How to Charge a Car Battery Using a Battery Charger

If you find yourself with a dead battery in your car and have access to a battery charger you are only some time away from being on the road again. Whether you are using a small car charger known as a trickle charger or a larger unit on wheels, you can charge your battery effectively. There are safety concerns though. Be sure to check the warnings
1、Locate the battery or remote charging point by consulting the owner’s manual. You can also open the hood to find the battery. The laptop battery may be under a seat, in which case a charging point may be provided under the hood.
2、Remove any plastic covers that may be protecting the positive and negative posts of the battery. Just push the covers to the side as they are usually pliable. Note the location of positive and negative terminals signified by a plus and a minus sign respectively.
3、Locate the laptop car charger so that its cables will reach the battery. Make sure your charger will reach an electrical outlet. Add an extension cord if needed.
4、Place the clamps of the charger on the battery making sure that the red handled clamp goes to the positive battery post and the black handled clamp goes to the negative laptop batteries post. If you are not sure, trace the cable attached to the clamp back to the charger and look for a positive or negative designation. If you are still not sure, stop and seek professional advice.
5、Plug the charger in, making sure that the selection switch is set to off.
6、Select the appropriate voltage and or rate (almost all cars have a 12 volt system). If time permits choose the slower rate and plan on charging the battery for two hours. This selection will turn the charger on. If the charger has a timer, set it.
7、After charging the battery, unplug the charger, disconnect the charger’s cables and start the car.

Dell battery plugging point bent...urgent help needed

You are going to have to have that plug in piece re-done with a new piece on the mother board soldered. Who ever told you to remove pieces was way wrong. Now as a result your going to have to have this done or you will not be able to use the laptop. Those pieces are meant to give you better support for the plug in and are also the ground. Take it in and have it done professionally. I would not mess with it anymore.

My Toshiba Satellite L645D - S4056 Laptop is not charging. When I remove the Battery to try charge it directly the lapop will still not pick charge. Right now i dont know if its the Charger or the laptop...

From what you I can understand the issue is the charger. Without the Battery the Laptop will not work as the Charger is not giving power to the laptop.
If this is the case you require a new charger. I would suggest testing with a similar charger if a friend has a similar model or taking it to you local shop before you spend money on buying a replacement.

hi aliyoow, i am happy to assist you, Step - 1 did you check whether your laptop is working without battery , just take your battery out and plug your charger in DC jack and check whether your laptop is getting on or not. If it get on mean you have problem with battery.

Step 2 - Use some-other charger of your friends laptop which is same averatec laptop and check whether your laptop getting charge or not. if your laptop get charge mean you have problem with your charger. if you change it , i will start to work again.

Step 3 - take you charger put in some-other laptop find-out it charging that particular laptop or not, if it get charge mean your charger was is good condition you have problem with your DC jack.

Step 4- take your charger put in DC jack on your laptop switch on power and try to move it side wise softly right and left and top and bottom check whether your charger light glow in your laptop , if it get glow at any point mean you have problem with your DC jack so try to change it so that you can able to bring back your laptop normal working mode.

My HP Pavilion DV7 1129wm laptop has a bad motherboard and I am searching for a way to troubleshoot the motherboard. Can you offer any advice to help locate the exact fault in the motherboard?

You can use a diagnostic card that you connect to the laptop that gives an POST error code. This code identifies the fault on the motherboard. This does not mean it will identify the faulty component but it does point you in the right direction. Please click on this link for details of this diagnostic tool :-

I need to replace a keyboard on a PACKARD BELL EASYNOTE F7305 but I cannot locate the screws that are holding it in place could someone please point me in the right direction?? Thanks

I would expect, as with most laptops, you will need to remove the bezel theat contains the power key, etc. In most cases when replacing a keyboard you are required to remove most of the top plastics, bezels and in some cases the screen. I would advise on seeking professional assistance on this.

My laptop charger is not working period but its not the charger its the computer

Elaborate a little more on why you don't think it is the charger? Did you test the voltage at the tip or did you test the charger on another HP device that needs 19 volts to run properly? Just remember a laptop can run with less wattage but not less voltage. I will tell you though that DV4000's are known to have power jack issues and that the jack is soldered directly onto the motherboard. They are not easy to replace because of the amount of "legs" they use to attach to the motherboard. Because of this there are issues with broken solder points on one or more of the legs. Sometimes these can be resoldered instead of having to try and remove the jack. Just heat up the solder and let it flow back over the joint and hopefully that make contact. The other issue with their jack is the solder point at the center pin breaks and the tension band inside the housing tends to lose its tension and will no longer hold the charger plug in place. Last but not least, the power circuit on the motherboard itself has been unreliable at best, if that fails, just replace the motherboard. Good luck to you.
