Donna37murph,

There should be some options. One of them should be "last known good configuration". If so, choose it.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Usual suspects for this are as it stated to you.
To get back into windows boot the computer whilst repeatedly pressing F8. this will take you to boot up options for windows.

Select safe mode and continue from there (this may take a little longer to boot than usual)

Once windows is up you will be given a warning tell it YES you want to continue.

Now remove any recent software you may have installed by using the ADD REMOVE option in control panel. DO NOT go to folders and delete that way.

It may be a toolbar or some other app you may have got from the web.

Whilst you are in safe mode make sure you do a full and deep virus scan using a strong reputable antivirus (norton and mcafee aren't on my list for this purpose) AVG, NOD, ESET, KAPERSKY all qualify.

Also do a full and deep antispyware scan (this is different to antivirus)

MALWAREBYTES and SUPERANTISPYWARE both qualify

If everything checks out then you should be back in business, if not post any further details you have back into this post and we can see where else we can go with it

Cant get windows xp to load

Hit F8 while it is booting up and take it into SAFE MODE if at all possible. From there run an error check.

Go to My Computer - right click on C: -- go to properties - then select Tools - error check. Make sure you check the two boxes to have windoews fix the errors as they are found. The error check should run after you restart your computer.

if it still doesn't load.. reboot while presssing F8 and take it into safe mode and use SYSTEM RESTORE to restore computer to earlier date.

Go to:
START - ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS -- SYSTEM RESTORE. and then select a date computer was working ok.

All white screen on compaq n600c

When you hooked up external monitor, did you switch to it via "Fn" keys?
If it did not help, then it's GPU ot North Bridge on the board that needs service.

It won't start

Sounds like hardware failure. Try removing and re-installing your memory modules. Make sure you remove the battery and powers supply first.

Power-on password bypass

You'll need to get under the keyboard or open some of the available openings on the bottom of the laptop.

What you're looking for is a battery. This is known as the CMOS battery. Once removed, power on the computer.

If it doesn't prompt you for the password, then you have successfully erased the memory.

Hope this helps :)
