Question about LG LRFD25850 French Door Refrigerator
We purchase a Kenmore , French doors with ice maker (really LG) from Sears about 15 months ago. The freezer door was dented when delivered, taking Sears over four (4) months to get a replacement. Ironically immediately after the replacement was installed a second Freezer door delivered to our home by UPS. We had a difficult time getting Sears to take the door back and out of frustration dropped it off at our local Sears store.
From the first week of use, we questioned the poor performance of the ice maker and freezing of food in the refrigerator compartment. We were told that the ice maker door was open, the refrigerator temperature was set too low, the freezer temperature was set too low, the freezer temperature is set too high, the refrigerator temperature was set too high and we are waiting to hear that the moon is in the wrong orbit. Nothing changed the problem. Ironically the temperature settings randomly change on their own, or we have ghosts.
We choose the Kenmore brand with the belief that Sears would stand behind the product even though it was manufactured by LG. We were willing to pay the + $400.00 difference for this protection. How ironic that we call Sears about our problems, we are talking with a warm body outside of the United States reading from a script. When ask what country we are talking into, the reply is that they can not tell us for security reasons. Ice makers must be on the list of weapons of mass destruction at Sears. I can understand because I wantg to use a WMD on the Kenmore/LG refrigerator.
The arm on or the ice maker sticks to the point that it no longer produces ice. (yes I have attempted to thaw it out) (New LG ice makers have changed the design of the ice-level arm) We have been purchasing ice to fill the ice bin for the last eight months on this top of the line Kenmore/LG refrigerator. Sears has taken the position that the refrigerator is out of warranty (complaing about this problem with no resulution from purchase does not count) and that they have not had any complaints from other customers regarding our problems on this model. We had no reason to dispute their statement of no problems until we did a little investigation.
It is crystal clear that the LG refrigerator design is flawed to the point that in some cases it constitutes a fire hazard because of interior lights failing to turn off. (New LG models now use LED lights) Ice maker failures and refrigerator freezing are normal operating parameters. Sears protects itself by stating that LG has not notified them of any issues. It is obvious that given the fact that the Kenmore Elite is identical to the LG and is exhibiting the same failures documented by many disappointed LG owners, Sears must be aware of the problem.
In my opinion after reviewing untold numbers of complaints, there is no repair capable of reversing the fundamental problem, defective design. I hope that if enough of us get together, we can force LG and Sears to step up to the plate and refund our monies so that we can purchase reliable properly designed refrigerators.
You are expereincing poor service. The techs that are working on your unit do not know what they are doing. There is no problem that can't be resolved on appliances. My suggestion to you is to find a really good LG tech in your area to repair this problem. There are only so many things that can cause these problems.
