Settings for GPRS are usually provided by your service provider for free, actually I'm doing this from my N6020 connected via IrDA to my PC.

Some service providers offer different levels of Internet access to their clients. For example, T-Mobile US offers

  • t-zones to all of their customers which allows every customer with an Internet capable phone to access their storefront and purchase a selection ringtones, wallpapers and games.
  • T-Mobile Web allow one to search the mobile web, find directions to the places you want to go, get local, international and financial news, stock quotes, weather, sports, play online games, email, community chat and more, right at your fingertips anywhere you go. This is a WAP (Wireless Access Protocol) access
  • T-Mobile Internet gives you wireless access to the Internet over the GPRS/EDGE network in many locations in the US and worldwide (where T-Mobile coverage is available and where T-Mobile has roaming agreements in place).
This last level of service is the "packet data" level of service. It is similar to your homebased Internet access rather than WAP based. Unless you have arranged with your service provider for this type and level of service, which usually involves a premium fee, you will not receive packet data.

The solution is to request packet data access to the Internet. Your provider will install the appropriate settings on your capable phone and charge you the appropriate amount on a monthly and per kilobyte basis.

When i want to connect to the internet my phone says subscribe to PACKET DATA

Hello there,

If your phone asks you to subscribe to packet data when you try to connect to the internet using the phone, it means you have not subscribed for the internet yet.

Try to subscribe for the internet from the sim card service provider first. To do so, contact the customer care of the sim cards service provider and ask them for the shortcode to enter on your phone and the recipient to send it to for automatic activation and subscription of the packet data of your phone.

Then you select the internet settings as your default settings when that is done. You will be able to connect to the internet after this.

Hope this was helpful
Goodluck

Cannot browse the internet i should subscribe to

Hi,
Here is the procedure for subscribing to packet data:
Menu--settings--connectivity--packet data--packet data settings--edit active access point--packet data access point. Once you are at this point you will be required to type in a name for your access point: Type in "Internet" and then save your settings and exit back to standby screen.
You should now be able to browse the internet.
Best wishes,
