You need it to be able to run CS3. There are shared components.

Tip

Load Applications Faster... Much Faster

Hello and Welcome to FixYa.
Another Trick, tested by me on Photo Shop CS2 and got amazing result.A MUST DO!!

NOTE:This switch does not work with all programs IT WORKS WITH MOST. If you complete Step 3 and get a 'target box invalid' message, just remove the /prefetch:1, Select O.K., and all will go back to normal.

For this example, I'm going to use Adobe Photoshop. If you use it, you know that it takes a little while to load; especially if you have extra fonts, brushes, etc...loaded that it needs to read. Well, were gonna make it faster along with any other program you wanna speed up.

STEP 1: Right click on the Adobe Photoshop or any other programs shortcut and select properties from the menu.

STEP 2: In the Target: Field add the /prefetch:1 switch to the very end of the path.

So originally, the Target Field shows:
"C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS2Photoshop.exe"

You are going to make it show:
"C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS2Photoshop.exe" /prefetch:1
There is a space between the " and the /

STEP 3: Select Apply and O.K.; or just O.K. is fine and your change will be applied.

Do share your Experience.
Concerned, Nooh

I have Photoshop CS3 on two PCs, abandoning one and wish to install PS CS3 on a Mac, replacing 2d pc. Can I do this and keep PS3 also on the PC? Same question for Lightroom and the Bridge. Can I share...

No you cannot, because it is not supported when you uninstall it. If you visit Adobe.com. What you might want to do is just download another version on it. Copy it onto a flash drive or CD. And then just place into the other PC.

Also you can share digital files between the PC and your Mac, but not programs, because programs are Server-Side installed. So the only way to share a program is to copy the files(Install Files) from one PC to the Mac, and it should work.

This machine is very slow and choppy when it comes to video editing & playback - any suggestions?

Without knowing the system/hardware configuration and softwares installed on your computer/emachine, it's not possible to assume which is the root of the problem. If you haven't upgraded the memory, i would suggest you to do it upto 2gb. Windows xp would run fine with adobe premiere and adobe photoshop, windows media player should not be having any problem if you are upto date with the codecs. Please also check the virtual memory and make it double the memory installed on your system. Uninstall unnecessary programs/applications, it's also important to run system registry cleaning everyday or every alternate day. I would suggest you to run a defragmentation every week so that there's no fragmented files. Run an full antivirus scan using an updated antivirus every possible days.
Good luck.

Problem in opening picture files

Its possible that you installed a graphic program that upon install it changed the extension of your picture files. An example would be photoshop, This program could change your JPG files to PSD format upon install.
You can download a software program that can convert your pictures from the PSD ext. to JPEG. Once such program is (Easy Graphic Converter), It is Free... Another excellent program is Graphic Workshop. I think that one is trial but it has a time limit.

If you don't want to go that route you can go into your file ext. settings and change it to where a jpg file will be opened with another program other than PhotoShop. This might solve your problem.

To get to this screen, you can go into ( My Documents ) click on ( tools) at the top on the menu bar. Then click on ( Folder Options ). From there click in ( File Types ). Then find your JPG ext.
and it will tell you what program opens your jpg files. If it says CS3, change it to something else like WIndows Picture and Fax Viewer or something else.
