Question about Projection Televisions

We lost power during a storm and I can not find the process for rebooting 37in Panasonic HDTV. Nothing that I have tried will bring up stations. Had to do it once before and I think it rebooted by great luck. we have a 4r service agreement John Cutler

    After talking to various people, I picked up on the plug pulling idea and it worked on about 3 minutes. Would still appreciate a sequence order to keep on file when rebooting after a power failure jcutler9@cox.net

Does your TV power up?
If you are unable to make the TV works. It might be time to use the 4 year warranty coverage you have to get it repair.

Actually, it seems the the ballast might have got damaged. This seems more like a ballast issue, it's easy to fix, plus ballasts run around 60 dlls.

My television quit working after a storm, it wasn't even turned on during the storm. the power on the set and remote does nothing. but it makes a sound when plugged in like it is turning on then nothing...

Ok, this was a direct hit in this case and you will defiantly need to replace the power supply board in this unit. the first thing that will happen during a direct hit is, the surge will run threw the power cord and travel threw the entire power supply circuitry, frying all circuits. this includes the main mother board as well. I recommend replacing the mother board and power supply board as well. this will restore your set to its original operational value. The mother board is commonly called the main control board.

please rate and god bless:)

Good Day;

Two things normally happens after a L storm:1.) One must unplug TV for 5 minutes, then plug back in. 2.) Main glass fuse out, will be near a/c cord. 3.( Power regulator IC may be out. Try these first.

Good Luck!

This is usually the lamp, but it could be something else if the sorm did something. change the lamp first to eliminate it as a problem

Sounds like a power supply problem. I am sure that the pop is the fuse blown. If the fuse is blown, this means that there is a short somewhere. Rear projection TV are like LCD projectors. And all of them use Switch mode power supply. If you are lucky, there is a chance that a protection device (like a varistor) is sorted. This means that removing this, even without replacing will bring your TV to life, however... Most probably the power supply is defective.
