Hey, the reason is because vista does not have the drivers for your laptop, you need to go to the laptops manufactures website like www.acer.com for example. and go into support and drivers download, and look for the model of laptop you have.
once you are in there should be drivers for vista, download the ones for the items that dont work like, audio, bluetooth & webcam and it should get you working,

All the best

How bluetooth turn on in acer aspire 5050

having had and worked on a quite a few laptops, most acers that have bluetooth software is on the laptop it doesnt mean it is fitted with bluetooth. the review site for that laptop doesnt say it is fitted for it. usually windows will have its own bluetooth control cente (xp pro sp2, vista) once there is a device installed. if you cant find any way to start bluetooth and have a device installed. check control pannel for a bluetooth icon.

I have the acer aspire 3680 with built in bluetooth. i upgraded my pc to vista ultimate about a year ago and since then i have not been able to get my bluetooth to work. it wont even blink blue. i even...

it sounds like the blue tooth device was disabled on your computer. Try to go into the control panel and then double click on the systems icon and get into the hardware manager ( i have not had the pleasure of working much with vista so you may have to look around but you want the device manager) find the blue tooth device and right click on it and select enable. If it does not show up in this list try to refresh the list and if you cannot see it still it may be turned off in your bios. This is a whole nother set of instructions so lets see where this gets you first.

After you enable the device you will have to reinstall the driver most likely

Bluetooth not installing on WinXP

Hi,

I looks like Acer designed this Notebook for Windows Vista only.

Have you wiped Vista and installed XP instead? If so is there a particular reason, like an old piece of software not working with Vista?

I would be inclined to put Vista back on it. Vista is much better and safer than XP once you get used to it, Especially on a laptop.

If you really want to keep XP, try looking for an older Acer notebook with the same bluetooth adaptor that came with XP installed and see if the driver works from that, its a long shot though.

Is it possible that you rotated the camera past its 225 degree maximum and damaged it? Just curious. There are several other camera types installed on the same model. It might be an idea to verify that. Also XP or Vista drivers ? Just a few questions. Best

If Acer does not let you download anything for XP, then you are out of luck.

Do you have sound working in any other application? Have you checked the device manager to see if there is a problem with the sound device or a conflict? Try updating both the sound device and the webcam drivers.

Adjusting the volume with hotkeys
  • Press the Fn key + the up arrow key. This will turn the volume level up.
  • Press the Fn key + the down arrow key to adjust volume levels down.
Checking volume control for muted input/output devices
  • Click Start, All Programs, Accessories
  • Click Entertainment, Volume Control
  • Ensure that all volume control levels are raised and any mute boxes unchecked, with the exception of the microphone.
Reinstalling the sound device
  • Click on Start, Control Panel.
  • Click on Performance and Maintenance, System
  • Select the ‘Hardware' tab then click on ‘Device Manager'
  • Click on the "+" next to ‘Sound, video and game controllers'.
  • Double-click on the ‘Realtek' audio device then the ‘Driver' tab.
  • Click ‘Uninstall'
  • Click ‘Ok' to exit out of all open windows.
  • Restart computer.
For Majbrit, check your webcam properties for any changes. You should also take a look at the administrative tools > event viewer to see if there was an event in the application log or the system log at the time your cam stopped working correctly.
