My Laptop is loaded with Windows2000. I find it very slow and want to upgrade the RAM to 1 GB. Is it feasible with the extension slot available and is 1GB RAM available in India ?

You should be just fine installing XP on this machine. 512 is plenty to run XP. You will have to go toHP's support site and download a few drivers after the install, but this won't be a problem. If you have any issues or question after the install let me know.

Upgrades are probably limited on that machine except for a bigger hard drive.

512 should be enough.

How or where do i get a windows 7 boot download to copy to disc to sort my omnibook xe3 out it currently has win98se installed but thirs allsorts missing.

Upgrade the memory and try win xp you'll see better performance. You can download win 7 from lots of places free.

It is the license that you have to purchase that people seem to be trying to find a get around for.

Just go to Microsoft website or search for win 7 iso

Good luck and thanks

Where is the model number on an Xe3 omnibook laptop/notebook?

Wow that's an old notebook. Normally if you look on the bottom of the laptop it will give you the model number. But all you need for yours is the fact that it is an Xe3 Omnibook.

It has 2 memory slots and will only hold a maxium of 1 GB of memory which is 512mb in each slot.

Here is where I got that info below.

I've an omnibook XE3 notebook with pc133 @ 512 tring to install 2nd 512 chip but when i put it in all i get is the critical beep both chip are number in secquance an were bought as a pare form a respetable...

Make sure ac and battery are out. Snap in the modules. Make sure there snapped in correctly or snuggly. Should be as simple as that. Check in your os to see how much memory omnibook says you have in there.

One word of caution. Certain motherboards escpecially older ones only allow a maximum amount of memory per slot or total. Hope that helps somewhat. If your hereing the beep that means the battery must be in. Also make sure there both snapped in correctly.
