I have a MC9060-G and it is freezing intermittently. I suspect that it could be RAM, though dont know the process to begin troubleshooting it. I want to troubleshoot it first because it is one of those problems that is really hard to show a repair center initially as it does work at first though will freeze up after a few hours of use.

Hi , Vista or W7 , it's the same problem : there are no more drivers for Scanjet 4470c . I find a way though , to make the mine work in WIA mode under W7 32-Bit Ultimate . Should work with Vista too . Make first sure driver XP ( yes , XP ) is correctly installed . Now , download and install Freekapture ( it's free ) from :http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html Load Freekapture , clic on Scan and select WIA-Hewlett-Packard . Scanner works fine in this mode but if you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will freeze . In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works . As for the buttons , only power button will respond . Regards .
Try scanning using Scanwizard instead of using directly in Photoshop. If it freezes again, it might be some problem with your system since there's no indication of hardware conflict. Additional info like Microtek scanner model name and current Windows version. Normally, Adobe wont have any problem regardless the scanner model, as long the appropriate driver installed.
I'm having the same problem with my Mustek A3 and I didn't have this problem at all until I installed the newest version of McAfee virus protection...ever since I installed that stupid program, every time I go to scan something with the Mustek scanner through Photoshop, now it freezes on me at the initializing scanner screen. I even tried the system restore to reset everything before the McAfee was installed and miraculously the scanner works perfectly again. So whatever McAfee has on that disk is screwing up my scanner which is really irritating. And yeah, I tried downloading the new drivers from the Mustek site before I did the system restore and that didn't help at all either.
Are you getting an error/ red light on the scanner button when its on? when scanning from Paint ( File, then from scanners and cameras) does it freeze as well? or only when using epson scan? make sure cable is directly connected from the scanner to your computer, no hubs or anything.. keep me posted.
I had the same problem with my HP Officejet J5780. I just got it to work with a different paper size.
Don't ask me why this worked, but it did, so I guess that's all that matters.
In Omnipage, I went under the "Tools" menu and clicked on "Options." I then clicked on the tab, "Scanner." I changed the paper size to what I wanted (A 4). I then clicked on "Setup." Despite its recommendations not to do so, I reinstalled my scanner.
After the reinstall, it is now scanning the new paper size.
I hope that I don't have to do this everytime I scan a new paper size...
