Linda, you need to remove unused keyboard languages from the control panel, look under regional settings... Sometimes this is really buried, but in essence, you need to remove/delete unneeded keyboards.
Make sure the NUM LOCK key is on. Your number key pad won't work if it's not on. As far as the French letters with accents, when the Enable indicator on taskbar check box is selected, and you have two or more languages installed, an indicator that represents the default language appears on the Windows taskbar. To switch between languages quickly, click the indicator, and then click the language you want to use. You can also use shortcut keys to switch between languages while you type. Select one of the switch languages options on the Language tab to set the shortcut keys.
You need to tell windows it has a french keyboard:
In the control panel, go to regional and language options. Go to the keyboards and languages tab, click change keyboards. On the window that pops up, click on the general tab. You probably have just the us keyboard installed. Click add, then choose either english-canada or french-france, then click to add the french keyboard. Click preview to see where the accent keys will be (so you can find them). Now, select the french keyboard and click 'move up' so the french keyboard is above the us english one.
your keyboard is in other language. you just go to the note pad and check all the keys with shift and without shift key... if not appers then copy the ? mark and past it where u want...??????????????
Thanks ma problems are now officially gone! But I have one question. How did you open device manager without clicking anything? Please answer me via email! [email protected]
hmmm it seems by mistake you have changed your key-board layout to french language.
Hold down Alt and press Shift. (Alt+Shift). Check the result by pressing thoes keys. If its back to original means you have installed both English/French both and can toggle pressing Alt+Shift.
Otherwise goto Start -> Control Panel -> Regional And Language Option.
Click on Language Tab, then Details button.
Now in settings tab you can see the languages installed on your system. You can remove un-wanted or/and select a default languages which you want.
