Question about Heating & Cooling

Ducted gas hetaing keeps tripping the thermo fan switch. We seem to have plenty of air flow out of the vents and have replaced 75% of the ducting

The Heater keeps cutting out. The thermo fan has a cut out swith which needs to be reset.

The switch is a safety mechanism which prevents over heating. Therefotre lack of airflow over the override switch causes the heater to shout down.

I have replaced a section of the air intake which had initially collapsed. I have also replaced 75% of the outlow ducting some of which had been crushed and may have lead to poor airflow. Once this was replaced the heater worked for a consistant five hours and now will not run for than 30secs

    Thanks

Do you mean that the high limit switch keeps shutting off the gas and the fan keeps running? Do you mean the fan stops and the heater keeps running until the high limit switch shuts it down for safety reasons?

It seems that you are saying the thermo fan stops first, thenfotre the safety limit switch shouts off the gas. This would mean the thermo fan motor is bad. It is overheating, which cuts out the thermo fan switch. The gas only shouts off because the thermo fan motor is bad.

Furnace runs for about 1-2 min to heat when time for fan stage.. shuts down

the fan may need replacing it may be faulty, but on the ither hand how long since furnace serviced it may be over temping before fan kicks in which means needs the air flow looking at! air flow on a majority of heaters is important if you don't have enough the heater will high temp and shut down, but it sounds if it may be the fan itself if the heaters turning off before fan starts it could be because of a faulty sensor or fan motor ceased and not spinning causing it to trip so firstly look at fan and see if you can see why its faulting if it is also i would check your airflow makes sure that clean enough to get good air flow and if ducted heating check the return air to unit and if has filter take out and try running there could be a lot of reasons for this but usually its air flow or fan if you are not electrically minded i would seek a qualified repair agent for furnace

What would make the high limit switch on my kenmore electric dryer be open twice

Lint build up inside the machine, or a clogged dryer vent duct. if it is the resettable type, disconnect your dryer vent, reset the limit switch, and try to run it. if it works with the ducting disconnected, clean your ducting, and make sure the flapper door on the outside of your house is working. If the limit trips even with the duct disconnected, make sure the air path and fan are clean and free of lint. sometimes lint will build up on the heater element and catch on fire near the limit switch. the heater banks are available as a complete assembly, with a new element and all limit switches and thermostats. they run about 75 dollars.

It will not heat up, 2 and a half year old gas dryer works perfectly just no heat

LG gas dryers have a manually resettable high limit thermostat on the burner assembly. It is near the igniter and is about the size of a dime with two wires attached to it. There is a pin in the center of it which can be pushed in to reset the thermo. It usually trips due to a poor vent (poor air flow, causes excessive heat build up at the burner). Eliminate any flexible ducting, make vent as short and straight as possible, and clean out lint in vent pipe and at the exterior vent hood. Make sure the exterior vent hood has a full 4 inch distance the flap can move (not the two in low profile type) or is one of the multi louver types. You will have to take the front of the dryer off to get to the resettable thermo. (make sure the dryer is unplugged when the front is off)

Ducted heating unit blows cold air and fan is always on..

that s correct the control is done by the thermostat stop the heating up to your set point and restart if the medium temp is under the set point
if this sequence fail means
- no power to the control element or is defective
thanks

The heating element turns off after about 2 mins

the most common cause for thermostat problems is lint build up. in the exhaoust duct, in the vent hood on the outside wall, in the squirrel cage fan

there is not enough air moving past the heater element to keep it within normal operating ranges, the thermostat cuts it out.
when the reduced air flow cools the element below max, it cuts in, overheats the thermostat and cuts out, for the whole timer cycle.
clear the exhaoust ducting, fan and vent hood of all lint
and try again

If there is too much overheating a firesafe device thermal cutout will trip and does not reset

locate the thermal cutout, a small device that looks like this 39ec5e4.jpg or this 9756eee.jpg screwed to the exhaust duct or fan housing. not resettable, test with ohmmmeter or battery and bulb,
the local parts guy will have the part, there are only a few for all the different dryer models
probably 75% chance of fix

Freezer at 10 deg, fridge at 50

haier refrigerators have been known to have the cold control go bad. it only sense's the temp in the fresh food section so that would be why the freezer is still ok. The problem is the control is cutting out to fast and not letting the temp go lower. from what you said i would take that there is good air flow between the freezer and the fresh food compartment. so the only thing it could be is the cold control. I would replace it and you should be all set.
