Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
The light doesn't come on it doesn't make a sound or anything. I have pulled the trash can out and put it back in a hundred times and jiggled the power cord, and managed to get the unit off of the top a couple times and put it back on and I can't get it to do anything -- a shredder really shouldn't be this difficult should it?
I read this post and had the same problem. Check the switch (very difficult to see) that contacts the waste bin when the shredder is inserted correctly. I think this was not seated correctly. Use a paper clip to make the switch have a clicking sound. Green LED should come on again.

No, it should not.
This may sound funny to you. I had gone on a service call and face a problem like this. The problem was right in front of me and it was over look. The power cord was bad. Also see if there is any switch by the power cord that may have been turn off by mistake.anything can happen.
The only thing I can think of is either the power cord or the main system board or blown fuse The board is located within the shredder.
Just before I let you go, is there any sensor at the back of the machine like a little black cable in the form of a little pencil?
this should be hanging down at the back.

When you lift up the top of the stapler (as though you are going to put staples in), does the pusher slide freely back and forth? It might be getting stuck at some point and not pushing the staples (either due to a worn pusher spring, or friction). First (after removing the staples) try spraying some light oil on the mechanism and lifting the top part of the stapler up and down a few times and observe how easily it moves back and forth. Also, with the top open try GENTLY sliding back and forth a little - if it slides fine with no sticking, try loading staples and using stapler. If it slides ok, but doesn't quickly return to it's "normal position" when pulled so as to put tension on the spring, rhen the spring may be worn and need replacing.
