Question about Dell Wireless Keyboard Optical Mouse w0147

1 Answer

Using the print screen button

I am trying to use the print screen function on my Dell wireless keyboard. Nothing happens when I hit the key, and I've tried combining it with Alt, Ctrl and Shift, and in every combination, and nothing works. I need to print a list of files from the Explore function, showing the date the files were created. Help!

When you use the Alt Print Screen button then you need to place it onto a word document in order to print it. Open up word and select to paste the frame into your word document and then print it out.

Wireless is disabled on dell vostro 1540

Look on both sides of the laptop for the switch or button. Look in the front of the laptop too. I've seen the wireless switch at the bottom of the lcd screen on either the left or right side on some dell models (you just press it).

Normally the keystrokes to get the wireless going requires you to Press and Hold the FN Function key then hit the key that toggles the wireless (F1 thru F12). The correct F1 thru F12 key might have the wireless icon )))) on it.

The function keys change their function depending on the program you are using.
It has nothing to do with the keyboard.

HOW TO DEACTIVATE TEH Fn KEY IN DELL LAPTOP

Hi names Rui, to turn Fn in you dell you need to:

1. Open your laptop and turn it on. Then locate the Fn key. It is located on the lower left side of the keyboard, next to the Ctrl key.

2. Press and release the Fn key. Now examine the keyboard carefully. You'll notice that many of the keys have icons or letters and numbers printed in blue upon them. These keys and functions are operated when the Fn key is enabled, as you've just done. Test it out by looking at the lower right side of the keyboard. You'll see two keys with small blue "sun" icons. These control the brightness of the screen. Press the lower one several times and you'll see the screen darken. Press the upper one. The screen brightens.

3. Press and release the Fn key again. Now try using the brightness keys. The screen brightness will not change. You've turned off the Fn key.

The Fn key (also known as the Function key) is a feature found on most laptop computers. The Fn key allows keys on a laptop computer's keyboard to serve more than one function, a clever way of increasing the utility of the keyboard when space is limited. Dell laptops make good use of the Fn key, and if you own a Dell laptop, you should be aware of where the key is and how to use it. So i hope this will help you.

Dell Keyboard Model: SK-8115 - Print Screen key does not work... when I press the Print Screen key nothing happens. Tried all combinations using Alt Ctrl... etc.

Pressing print screen itself does nothing noticeably. To capture your screen press ctrl + print screen or just print screen. Open up paint or a word document and paste it into it by pressing ctrl + v. An image of the previous screen capture should appear.

How can I make PrintScreen? It does not functions with the PrintScreen and Ctrl V. What I have to do?

Back in DOS days the Print Screen key was used to copy whatever was on the monitor screen at the time to the printer.
Today, many people just glance at the key (and wonder what it's there for) and some hit the key. When nothing happens they just forget about it.
Well, Microsoft didn't forget about it at all. They turned it into a "Snapshot" key" which, as the term implies, takes a snapshot of the monitor screen.
Microsoft didn't really highlight the fact that a user, after taking a snapshot of the screen, can easily save and/or print that snapshot using Paint.
After taking the snapshot, in XP simply Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories and Paint. The Click on Edit followed by Paste and Voila! There's your screen snapshot in living color staring you in the face.
Now you can use File, "Save As" and save it with a .jpg extension and/or send it to your printer using File, Print.

How do i use the prt scr button

Whatever happened to the Print Screen key??
If you did computers back in the 80's (DOS days) you probably remember using the Print Screen key on your keyboard to print a copy of whatever was on the monitor screen at that time to your printer. It wasn't used that much because back in those days it took forever for a dot matrix printer to print out the entire monitor screen. However, it came in handy once and awhile.
Microsoft has turned the key into into a "Snapshot key" which, as that term implies, takes a snapshot of the monitor screen.
After taking the snapshot, in XP simply click on Start, All Programs, Accessories and Paint. Then click on Edit followed by Paste and Voila! There's your screen snapshot in living color staring you in the face!
Now you can use "Save As" and save it with a .jpg/tif extension (etc.) and/or send it to your printer using File, Print.
If your keyboard Print Screen key performs more than one function you will have to experiment a little to get it the key to perform the Print Screen Function. Try holding down the ALT, SHIFT, or CTRL key (or any "special" keys unique to your keyboard) when you hit the Print Screen key in order to get the key to perform its Print Screen function.

Receive a drive one \error not found message

The keyboard has a feature (and associated button) called F-Lock. By default, when the computer boots, F-Lock is turned on. In the F-Lock mode, rather than sending the standard key commands for the function keys, the keyboard sends special alternate commands (like print for F7 and save for F8) that are configured in the iTouch program. In order to force the keyboard to send the standard function key commands, you must TURN OFF F-Lock by pressing the F-Lock button! Oh, and by the way, there are no indicator lights on the keyboard, and the F-Lock button is an always up momentary button - just like the keys on the keyboard, so there is no way to tell what state it is in, other than by pressing it and then pressing an F key to see what happens!
