Are you sure you downloaded and installed the correct BIOS patch? If you installed the wrong one, it will cause it to stop.

Need to update the bios in this unit so i can install windows 8.1 to replace windows 7 .

Okay, go to your manufacteres website, (if your pc is dell then go to DELL.COM)

then in the website of your manufacturer go to the drivers download tab, or support by product, and input the serial number of your machine, once you have, you will see a list of the drivers that are the latest, just go to the bios tab, and download the latest update you need..

NOTE: some pcs wont let you jump bios versions, for example if you were to have version 4 and the latest is 9 then the bios update will not work, and you will havee to install all of them in order to get the latest one.

i hope i helped you!

It is unfortunate that the Fan has stopped working but please let me know if the computer is working fine. You may use the below link and update the BIOS to the latest one:
Input the system service tag, click drivers & downloads, select & download the latest BIOS under BIOS tab.

Thanks and Regards.

All my drivers are out dated.Ive got adisk top

If your computer is a Dell then you can download and install the latest drivers from their WEB site.
You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: -

Hi, Upon boot up I recieve a Thermal Error on my Aurora R3 Alienware. I have BIOS A05. Therefore I cannot access the Alienware Control Centre. Do you know how I could fix this? Many Thanks in...

Download the latest BIOS update from the Dell support website. After downloading the update then install it.

After the update just restart the computer.

My Dell Inspiron 1525 is now around 2 years old and works only for 15 or 20 minutes after plugged out. Also on battery symbol, it displays a message saying "consider replacing your battery" and show a cross...

this sounds like a dying battery. But before doing so, try this:
  • right click on your desktop, select properties->Screen Saver->Power
  • create a new power scheme and call it something like 'battery drain'. Under 'Running on Batteries', set everything to 'never' and save.
  • run some power draining programs, eg. playing music CD at full blast to drain the power. Or if you worry about possibly damaging your CD, you can simply turn the screen brightness to the max and wait.
  • if the laptop still works after the battery level indicator is showing 0%, it means that your battery has not been fully charged - although the laptop 'thinks' that it is. keep draining the battery till it dies off, and perform and full battery charge. Your battery should be fine now
  • Personally, I'd drain my battery every now and then just to make sure that it's getting fully charged.

Hope this helps :-)

Touchpad of my Dell laptop stops working the moment I plug in the adaptor. Otherwise, on battery, it works perfectly fine.

Hi there!

You'll need some updates for that computer!

Download the latest BIOS for your computer.

Download it at the support website of the dell,

That will be

After you flash it update the driver for your touch pad,
The driver for it is in the same website it should be named sypnatics,

If the problem still persist, try to toggle the power options of that computer to maximize and it it still
does the same thing, then you'll need to replace the motherboard of that computer.

Scroll on my touchpad doesnt work

You need to download your touchpad driver made for your XPS off the dell website. When windows installs, or when you buy a laptop, it doesn't come with the latest drivers.

Disc will not eject from dell studio laptop

try this first. go to the computer window then right click on the dvd icon then click on eject. if this fails then restart the computer once sees dell logo then keep tapping on f2 once you reach the bios screen press the eject button from the media control check if it will do. if fails since you are already in the bios screen look for the bios verion take note of it, exit the bios screen boot normally to windows. go to the internet to download the latest bios version. after downloading the latest bios i want you to uninstall the dvd firmware, go to the computer icon right click then properties, this will show you the properties windows then click on device manager, on the device manager window click on the + sign beside dvd / cd rom then underneath right click on the device driver then uninstall. reboot the computer. once you back in windows it will automatically reinstall the driver. if this fails thats the time you are going to flash the bios you previously downloaded.

Dell Inspiron 6400 - manually flash BIOS

If your BIOS is now corrupt you will be unable to reboot and try the BIOS flash again, not easily anyway

A lot of newer systems have special BIOS recovery procedures that can be done. You will need to consult your motherboard manual or motherboards manufacturers’ site to get these steps
