The stylus is most likely integral to the head...there are no alternate supplyers im aware of.
for my beocenter 1800 b&o asked for 250euro for a replacement.
next move i made was to buy a cheapo generic needle, scavenge the tip - wich was actually hollow, and ram im it on the broken renmant of the original one....not very hi-fi, but worked noiselessly.

Your best bet is going to be to go to an office supply store.

My B&O MMC CL cartridge began to distort, skip, and it lost dB. I replaced the MMC CL with a B&O 4000 cartridge and it plays just fine.

Is the stylus assembly perfectly perpendicular from the front of the cartridge when it contacts the record? A misaligned unit will cause the issues you stated.

Fission USB turntable model number E-E030: turntable rotates but when I put the needle down on the record it moves straight across to the end and stops without playing. Help?

Hi, most likely the diamond tip has broken off your stylus. Remove stylus from cartridge and inspect under magnification. Replace if tip is missing or damaged. Cheers John.

About 11 months ago I bought an Elliptical upgrade stylus for the PL-990 and it worked great. Recently, it started giving me problems. The left channel would be very distorted and also would fade in and...

Very odd! Sounds like it's not fitting in right. Are you sure that you have the right type of stylus for the cartridge? If in doubt replace the entire cartridge & Stylus. If it still plays up then it's in your amp after that course of action.

I'm trying to figure out what type of cartridge the ATP-2 is which came with my Audio Technica AT-PL120 Turntable. Is it "Moving Magnet" or "Moving Coil" or something else?

These are the specs for your cartridge - it is of the moving magnet variety. Vector-Aligned Dual Magnet design and A-T's exclusive Paratoroidal signal generator. This unique signal-generating system is composed of a unified, laminated coil core wound with a single piece of wire. Internal mechanical and electrical connections are eliminated, minimizing magnetic losses and assuring better signal transfer. PCOCC wire

Cartridge Specifications (ATP-2)

Frequency Response 15-22,000 Hz

Channel Separation 23/17 (dB at 1 kHz/10 kHz)

Vertical Tracking Force 3.0 - 5.0 grams

Stylus Construction Bonded round shank

Output 5.3 mV at 1 kHz, 5 cm/sec

Channel Balance 1.5 dB

Stylus Shape 0.4 x 0.7 mil elliptical
Cantilever Alloy tube

While trying to replace the needle/stylus for my turntable, the metal part (possibly called a cartridge) came out instead ... now i can put it in and will stay but it is just resting there, it feels as if...

Depending on the cartridge design the stylus is part of an assembly that typically just slides out. It will look like this if you have the original one...

The whole thing just presses in and friction is all that holds it in place. The actual stylus ("highly polished special elliptical diamond") is that little tiny point on the skinny metal piece ("thin wall aluminum alloy cantilever"). THAT part is NOT a subassembly for you to take off.

You definitely want to make sure that your new cartridge is properly aligned for your turntable. This web site can help:

If you don't feel that you are able to get it properly aligned by yourself, a local dealer should be able to help you with this for a small fee.

One channel vocals drop out

yes, it is very likely the stylus. the stock needle is conical shaped like a ball point pen. You might have a tonearm that is out of alignment but usually it's the needle. It is possible it is just dust on the tip but if it occurrs in consistent areas of the record, then it is likely that the music is just too demanding for the LP2D you will either have to use your old technics which is likely better quality or you could try upgrading the stylus on your LP2D.
If you do a yahoo search for "4-211-DE-GUARD" with the quotes, the 1st result will take you to an elliptical upgrade over the stock needle. The elliptical tip will pull more info out of the grooves and into your computer for further processing.
