Battery will not charge

The battery will not charge. Sometimes it will sometimes it will not. If it does charge it will quickly dissapate, then the laptop will power power off when the battery completely dies. I purchased a new charger and battery...still same issue.

Update: It worked fine for a while but now it's up to the same ole problem again. I guess I will have to replace the motherboard :-(

Ok this time I almost wasted hundres of dollars for nothing.......

I searched for and downloaded my laptop's disassembly instructions

Stripped it down to the motherboard

Followed the wires where the adapter plugs in all the way to the motherboard

The piece connecting the wires to the motherboard was loose

    Went to Radio Shack

Explained to the salesperson what I wanted to repair

Purchased the cheapest soldering iron, flux, and solder they sold ($20 total)

Carefuly, soldered the loose piece on the motherboard

    Reassembled everything in reverse order

Worked like a champ (Well I have to admit I forgot to install the keyboard ribbon so I had to take the keyboard off again and install the ribbon)

Bottom line: I did not have to pay someone to do this simple task nor did I have to purchase a new $400 motherboard. Kiss my **** Toshiba and all the other clowns who tried to rip me off!!!!

I completely disassemble my laptop down to only the motherboard. I put everything back together and for the past few week all seems fine.

Since the battery and charger aren't the issue, the only thing left is the power management system on the motherboard. The power management system controls the charging, among other power related things. If the machine is still under warranty you need to contact Toshiba to get this fixed, otherwise you will have to either live with power supply only or replace the motherboard.

Will not charge. Keeps saying that it does not detect a battery. Sometimes says that it is plugged in and not charging. What should I do?

If your battery has been installed for a long time [and never removed] you can get CORROSION build-up on your terminals [as with any battery]. This will quite often prevent correct charging from happening.
Try removing your battery and cleaning the metal terminals [also clean the contact points in your computer for the same reason].
High humidity work-place situations can also cause this problem.
OR your battery may be at the end of its "useful life" [around 2 years or so if constantly used without an AC power source]; so you may need to replace your battery.
Most battery suppliers can TEST your battery for you ... ok

Yes to re-install Windows.

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

My cc2866 wont power on?? is it a bad battery?? when i try to charge the battery in the wall the power light just blinks?? assuming it had reached maximum charge i tried the battery again.. still did not...

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

My aspire starts blinking when i charge it

What's blinking the battery charge light? If so that is not a problem unless the battery is not charging. The battery only has a useful life, then it has to be replaced when it refuses to charge. If you AC Adapter is ok and allows you to get on the laptop and work, then your battery needs to be replaced.

You can look at the power options in the control panel to see if the battery is holding a charge. Or you can remove the power cord and work off the battery and if it goes dead real quick, that's another indication that it needs to be replaced.

My power supply for my Presario V6000 died due to broken wires. The battery powered the computer until it died. Now, the new adapter will not power the computer.

This is a common eevnt the battery get so flat that the adapter will not charge it quickly.. You need to leave it totally alone for at least 8 - 12 hours... To see if the adapter actually works and PC is good, take OUT the battery, and plug IN the PSU, the PC will work, sans battery just on PSU. If OK, then charge up as related. It will do it after a ling time.. Sometimes batteries go so flat they are ruined, sa a new one may have to be gotten IF it does NOT charge up.

I have an acer 5735, the battery won't charge, sometimes it states plugged in charging, sometimes plugged in not charging, and sometimes fully charged, but in all cases it is not charged at all?

you can try this things

1st option
Remove your battery and check the pins if are bended or missing

2nd option

1- remove your battery
2- directly connect AC adapter
3- restart or on your laptop
4- after loading windows, put the battery

3rd option
Take battery out and use pencil erases to gently clean the contacts. Also clean contacts on laptop battery box.
Sometimes the contacts oxidize.
Then put back in and see if it charges.

if nothing of this worked, you will need a new battery

The battery does not get any charge, it looks as it is.

This is an indication that the battery pack has shorted out and is not functioning. The batteries in laptops have a thermal fuse inside that blows if the pack gets to hot to prevent exploding. When the battery cells die sometimes they will short out and pull to much current, this causes them to quickly overheat. The fuse blows and the battery cools down but is dead because of the shorted battery cell. The laptop can see a battery but can't charge it because of the blown cell and fuse. Its time to replace it.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Battery will not charge compaq presario v5000

I would try replacing your ac/adaptor (power plug) before troubleshooting any further. It sounds as if the adaptor is faulty. Check eBay, you can get a replacement for less than 10 dollars.

IBM T22 Battery won't charge & is not detected

Take it to a very good technician who will open it up and check a dry joint in the charging system.  Sometimes if you donot attend to it quickly you may find your T22 refusing to power at all with the AC Adaptor.  Delicate soldering may solve your problem.  Power may not be getting to the charging circuit and the battery thus it is totaly discharged.
