Just purchased a new Toshiba 55G300U LCD TV. The TV power on, but stays stuck on the first channel it comes to, and there is no volume. Using the remote, I can maybe change the channel once, then it gets stuck, and there is no sound. We have powered and unplugged the TV numerous times, re-powered it on using the panel power button, and then had to push the Input button to get the TV to work. Then, when you shut it off and back on, the TV is stuck on the channel, no sound, and the remote doesnt appear to work.

You might want to checked for bulged electrolytic caps on the power supply, that need changed or just replace the power supply module. Another thing that you can try, is to unplug the set from the wall for 40 Min, the video processor IC, could be locked up and that will reset it back to normal.
sounds like it is just a cracked solder joint on the power cord receptacle, as for repairs, as long as it is only a cracked solder joint there would be no parts required to repair it just a matter of opening up the set and re-soldering the joint. at most you would have to pay for probably a minimum service charge at a repair shop (if you are mechanically inclined and have done any soldering yourself it is a very easy repair to do yourself). Good luck and God Bless.
I havea Sony bravia, and was explicitly told if the power is off during update I shouldlook for a authorized service. It is too complicated to fix. But watchout, it might not be "under terms of guarantee". Don't know if this applies forToshiba, but just to let you know
