My PIXMA MP830 won't turn on following a brief power outage (less than a second) in a thunderstorm. It was plugged into a surge protector and all of my other equipment works, no problem. Any suggestions?

If you unplug the unit from the power source and wait about 10 minutes, it will reset the power supply. Plug it back in and press the power buttion. If this does not work, you may need to take it to a service center for repair.

After a brief power outage during a thunderstorm my canon i9900 will not turn on. I left it un pluged for several hours and then repluged it and still nothing. Everything else in the office works fine.

The power supply of your printer are damage due to the brief power output during the thunderstorm. Just check the fuse inside of the power supply of the printer if they have some burned or else use the Multi Tester to identify that the fuse are damage or needed for replacement.

Have replaced cartridge with one of my refilled cartridges in a canon PIXMA MP830, and am getting an alarm U071,that reads "more than one ink tank of the following color is installed". This is of course...

Printers have a mechanism to detect refilled cartridges. By default it does not accept refilled ones. But there's a work around. Have a set of two (preferably 3) cartridges , refill and cycle them. This way the printer wont be able to detect that you have inserted a refilled cartridge.

If you're lucky, the power cord is defective otherwise you would have to have the printer serviced.
