I had a similar problem....it was usually after I unplugged the headphones....the phone thought they were still attached, therefore, nothing came over the speaker......try plugging in the headphones, then unplugging...that worked for me.

- If you have a pair of headphones, try plugging them in and then unplugging them.....if that doesn't work, then I have no idea....good luck.
If the iphone still does this after a hard reset and a software
restore, it's
usually caused by a defective audio jack module (swap iphone backplate)
or the electronic module that sits behind and drives the earspeaker. In
both cases this should be covered
under warranty. If you're not covered, you
can try an iphone repair guide websites, there are also places that sell iphone parts.

i have an iPhone and i want to change to a different network. i have the new sim but the phone won't recognise it and won't let me in it only lets me have emergency calls. when i plug it into itunes says 'the simcard inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported. only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone.please insert the sim card that came with your iphone or visit a supported carriers store to receive a replacement sim card. what can i do to use other sims in my phone?
