Does the drive still work? What was wrong with it in the first place?

There are a few white pieces that go into the drive assembly. Without seeing it I really couldn't tell you where it goes. Sorry!

Samsung Blue ray disc tray will not close. Seems to be stuck in the open position. How can I get it to close?

Grab the tray and run it back and forth 10 or more times aggressively. It may trick it into resetting the drive motor contacts and operating again.

Bluray drive on PS3 makes grinding noise after disassembling

This tip is for people who have already disassembled their Play Station3 console and tried to replace the laser in the Blu ray optical drive.

If you replace the laser and then reassemble the Blu ray optical drive and the drive will no longer accept discs (the gears grind, or you can not push the disc in) follow these steps to resolve.

(Note: if you can not push the disc in because something is "blocking" the drive, refer to this tip: )

Remove the metal casing of the Blu ray optical if you have not already done so. This requires removing the three black screws and the two silver screws on the bottom of the Blu ray optical drive.

With the metal casing removed, locate the 5 black screws on the top of the Blu ray optical drive to remove. There are two on either side and one at the back in the middle.

"Fold" the top over. There is no reason to remove it completely.

On either side of the drive inside, there are two long black pieces with "teeth" to interact with the gears.

You need to forcefully push the bar on the left side of the drive all the way back.

The white Gears in the front of the PS3 should be able to move freely (push on them and they should move back and forth to allow a disc to go in)

Make sure the black bar has one or two of the "teeth" in line with the black gear near the front of it. Verify that the white pieces will still move freely.

Turn on your PS3 and wait for it to power up.

Reassemble the Blu ray drive. You should test your Blu ray drive first before reassembling the whole PS3.

I was replacing the disc drvie laser and gears and other plastic fell off the side and i need to put it back together

Gears are a little difficult if you dont know where they go. I would purchase another drive working or not and just look at how those gears are placed. If you have about a 1/2 in long white piece it has no big purpose just holds the ribbon for the top lid down.

Once you put in a game it gos back to open tray

I'm no expert but it Looks like you got error code E79 it's when your xbox refuse to read the disc well I guess I'll give more detail it's a small circular sensor in the disc tray that allows the games info to the internal hard drive. In your case that little sensor is slight off it's brackets or it is no longer working, try sending it to microsoft if you warranty is still valid . There's also another option " YouTube " type in the adress bar " open disc tray problem fix" ok so I hope this gave you an idea of what's going on. Steph the not so expert guy.

Xbox 360 the draw wont open, only will open a little bit but not enough to put a game in ..

Sometimes cleaning the belts inside the disc drive is enough to get the tray to open and close again.
First follow the tutorial for your drive to get the tray open here:

Take a look at this picture.. this is the drive disassembled(you do not need to disassemble the system at all.. stay with me a sec). See that white circle all the way on the left and in the middle of the pic. Not the white gears, the white circle that is right nex to the gears. It's got a little black belt that is attached to another black piece. That is the belt you need to clean.

Now.. how to do this without opening the 360?

First of all make sure the 360 is completely off and the power is disconnected.
Hopefully you've already gotten the disc drive open using the manual eject instructions above. With the tray completely ejected look into the opening for the tray. You can see that white piece and the black belt are right there easily accessible with the disc tray open.
Now you will need to do this to both sides of the belt!
Dip the Q-tip in rubbing alcohol.. Dab it a bit so it's not dripping off, you just want it nice and damp.
Gently place the Q-tip on one side of the black belt.
While continuing to gently press on the belt with the Q-tip you should close the disc drive about an inch or two, then open it back up again.
Repeat this process with the other side of the belt.
If it's very dirty you can do this a few times.
Let it sit for a few minutes and you should be good to go! If not you will need to replace the disc drive motor... however this will usually work about 75% of the time. Let me know if you have any questions.

Then take a Q-Tip and dip it into rubbing alchohol.

Can't put ANY disc in! White plastic piece blocking my way.

you will have to crack it open again like you did before, when you have the metal case and the top guide cover off you will see 4 little rollers , two on each side, these guide the disk in. .
(with the console front facing you) in th middle you will see the offending white stopper, DONT TRY AND FORCE IT DOWN !!! this will really bugger it up.
the problem is , the system thinks there is still a disc in there , so were gunna trick it o.k ?
to do this you need the system on. for the sake of your eyes put the round white cup with the magnet in it over the lens, magnet side up.
VERY IMPORTANT !!! do not touch anything other than i say.....zap!
turn it on and touch the sensor to load it up (hold the cover over it to locate it exactly)
in front of the right front roller you will see a white stick poking up that has its own little track it can travel around. gently guide that stick back , you should notice the system starting to read and all the rollers will slide open (you may have to help them a little (touch only the rollers)
when there all back , you system thinks theres a disc in , so press the eject sensor (line it up with the cover again)
watch with joy as the white stopper drops down.
good luck

Ps3 blu ray lens cleaning

What are you saying you screw up your $600 dollar console. OMFG i mean common man. Jeez luis. Well since you have your ps3 already open your ps3 system you should open again and extract cod4 out of your blue ray drive before you hook it up and all that. So take the game out connect the blue ray drive back put the system together and power it up. See if that works.
