Bobbin case catching-tangling thread

My maching let me sew for about 30 mins then it just got all messed up, it would do 3 stitches then stop and be stuck. Its getting all bunched and stuck on the metal arm of the bobbin holder and not coming through and up like it should. I've removed the bobbin and messed with it several times with no luck. What can I do to fix this?

thanks so much in advance

I have the same problem. It worked for about half a hem, but now the top thread gets tangled up in the bobbin area after a very few stitches. I wound a new bobbin using the bobbins supplied with the machine and double checked my threading of the bobbin case and the top thread. I don't know what to do next. I hate to start messing with the tensions unless I know what I'm trying to do.

Can you adjust the tension for the bobber thread? or do you mean to tighten the tension for the regular thread?

It sounds to me that you might have the wrong type of bobbin in the case. The top of the bobbin should not be higher than the case. Thread will slip through the space and cause problems. Also unevenly wound bobbins will also cause this symptom.
Or your losing tension which you will have to adjust tighter.

ever tried adjusting the thread tension control? clean if possible
tighen it more, loose tension adjustment causes loose stitch and tangling of the thread.

How to fix the tangling of top thread on bobbin race.?

1. There are many bobbin cases. Make sure the right one is installed. Also, once you have it installed check the handle of the bobbin case to make sure it is going flat with the bobbin case.
2. Check the bobbin you are using. If it is too long it will protrude the length of the bobbin case. It must be able to spin freely.
3. Check the bobbin case on the outside for any rough edges that could hang up on thread.
4. The bobbin tension should be checked. I've attached a guide for this. Your's is the older style.
5. Make sure the top is threaded properly. Especially make sure the thread is going through the thread in the right direction.

Why does the top thread sometimes picks up the hook and then picks up bobbin but bobbin then crosses over and makes a mess? Wont work

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

I have just purchased an LSS-505 machine and I have not been able to get sewing yet. The bobbin thread tangles after about 3 stitches. I have done all the troubleshooting that I know to do, changed n

YOUR BOBBIN IS TOO BIG, when the upper thread passes over
to create the stitch it catches on the rim of the bobbin. Make sure there is no lint caught under it or in it's cradle.

Singer Mach. 331K4 won't turn all the way around.

Must be some thread tangled in the bobbin case or the motor is jammed and you will need an electrician . Before asking for professional help, try, changing the needle , look for the timing , check for tangled thread and put the dial on straight stitch .

There is something wrong with the bobbin. When I sew it catches somewhere and bunches thread up underneath

Does this only happen when you begin sewing????? Make sure your upper and lower threads are long enough for you to hold them.......lower your pressure foot and don't release the threads until you have sewn several stitches into the seam. If you don't hold the threads when starting a seam...both threads often get pulled down into the bobbin area and cause a big tangled mess. Hope this helps.

My machine is a designer 2 but I encounterd a problem with my stich getting all tangled. tryed to clean the bobbin case and under, stich is still tangling bad.

Be absolutely sure that the machine is threaded correctly, with the upper thread clicked into the tension discs (the presser foot MUST be raised when you thread so the tensions discs are open to receive the thread) and bobbin thread clicked into the bobbin tension slot. Change the needle - a bent or blunt needle can cause tangles. Hold onto the thread tails for two or three stitches when you first start sewing to avoid them being drawn down under the fabric and making a mess.

I have a brother pe 770 and the bobbin will not catch the thread. The thread will wrapped and tangled up around the bobbin case and bobbin, but will not catch the bobbin at all. I chcked the needle, it is...

You need to sew the first stitch slowly. Lower the needle by hand and take up carefully. Pull the needle thread up and the bobbin thread should be caught in the formed loop and come with it. Pull them both to the back of the machine and sew.

My sewing machine keeps getting jammed when sewing. the top stitch keeps getting tangled in with the bobbin thread and jamming up the machine.

Hello,
Here are a couple of things to try.

* Un-thread your machine and remove your bobbin. Clean any loose thread or lint out of your
bobbin case. Re-thread your machine, reinsert and re-thread your bobbin.

* Change your bobbin
There could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you
sew.

* When you start to sew a seam, grasp the upper and bobbin thread tails. Hold them back
and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting
caught in your machine.

I hope this helps.

Jammed thread.

To address my needle thread tangling (horribly) in the bobbin compartment, I rethreaded the bobbin. I cleaned the bobbin and the feeder feet, I changed the bobbin and the thread. I changed the tension on the needle thread and the bobbin thread. NO FIX! Then, I changed the needle - the problem was fixed instantly. I sewed awhile and then put the original needle back in. No problem. I think perhaps that the problem is being caused by the needle getting out of alignment somehow during sewing. If you are having the same issue, try it. It can't hurt!
