Unplug for about 5 minutes and allow to reset. If the problem persist, you might want to try replacing the control panel (the one that have all the numbers and timers). Good Luck!

proceed with common sense, clearly, and logically.and fix it .God bless you
Microwave overheats and keeps turning off All microwaves have some sort of a cooling fan to help keep the magnetron and controls at a tolerable level. Most OTR models will usually use the vent motor for the cooling fan also. Countertop units have a small fan behind the control panel somewhere. Either way, if the cooling fan is not working and heat builds up, it is going to open a thermostat. On some makes, this thermostat might re-set itself as soon as the temperature cools down. Other makes, you will have to replace the thermostat or fuse.
If this is your microwave oven repair problem, you will need to check the operation of the fan. Below in the component testing chart, you will see how to test the fan. Also, if possible, make sure the fan is not obstructed somehow and not turning. Also check your fan relay at your control board for voltage, if no voltage, replace control board. This fan should come on at the same time any cooking starts.

Does the exhaunst fan turn on automatically when we cook or warm food items in our Samsung Microwave -- SMH 9187W?

Some interesting reading on page 8 of the owner's manual:

"Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite and spread if the vent fan is operating. To minimize automatic fan operation, use adequate sized cookware and use high heat on surface units only when necessary."

And on page 20:

"If the temperature becomes too hot around the microwave oven, the fan in the vent hood will automatically turn on at the LEVEL 2 setting to cool the oven. The fan will automatically turn off when the oven has cooled down sufficiently. This is an automated process and cannot be turned off. The fan may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. The Vent Fan will only operate in 1~4 levels modes while the microwave is working."

"Using the Vent delay off button
1. Press the Delay Off button once to turn the fan off after 1 minute.
2. Press the Delay Off button twice to turn the fan off after 3 minutes.
3. Press the Delay Off button three times to turn the fan off after 5 minutes.
4. Press the Delay Off button fiour times to turn the fan off after 10 minutes.
5. Press the Delay Off button five times to turn the fan off after 30 minutes."

If for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can still download it free here.

My DSpacemaker JVM 1640BJ fan doesn't work

I would wonder if you've had trouble recently with the cooktop lights?

Such failure can cause damage to the control board (which we repair) which can cause either fan to act improperly.

We regularly repair these control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Also I would wonder if it's the internal cooling fan or the hood vent exhaust fan?

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

It is vital that the cooling fan runs, or the turntable and stirrer won't work, and magnetron will soon be destroyed.

Many brands have a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Accessing some parts may require you to pull the oven from the wall and remove the cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please include your full model number from the tag in or on the unit) for a free estimate and free tips & do-it-yourself advice.

I replaced the light bulbs but they still do not come on and the vent fan will not come on either?

the fan and the surface lights are run through the control via the touch pad. if you tried to replace the bulbs without unplugging the unit 1st you probably shorted the board. this can be checked by lowering the touch control panel by first removing the vent above it to access the panel screw. at this point you can observe the control for burn marks

Vent fan won't turn off

This may be a shorted hood fan TCO (thermal cutout or thermostat) or a problem on the control board.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

JVM1540DM1WW exhaust fan comes on at random times for no reason

I would suspect that your hood fan thermostat is intermittently shorting, or less possibly a relay on the control board is sticking.

The hood fan thermostat (hood TCO) detects excess heat from the stove top and will turn the fan on automatically at its preset temperature.

The one on your model should turn on at 133F and turn back off when the temperature falls below 104F and it should have pink wires attached. (Other models may have different colors).

A failure of either the TCO or relay can cause unwanted operation of the fan.

One way to isolate a bad TCO is to disconnect and tape off the wires on one side. Preferably the side that goes to the fan.

If you or a friend does this, be sure the wire is taped over and secure so its metal will not touch anything inside (including the chassis) and so that the wire will not be damaged.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

You can unplug the oven, swing the control panel down, find and pull the pink wire on the hood TCO that goes to the fan, tape its connector over and tape the wire to another wire clear of any metal or moving parts.

There's probably no need to disconnect any other wires to get to the TCO wires..

Then reinstall the control panel, plug the oven in, and use it for a couple of days.

If the fan does not come on at unwanted times, then you know the TCO is bad and can order one.

If the fan still comes on at unwanted times, then you have a problem on the control board,

Buttons for light and fan

I had the same problem with the three buttons pushed in.  Here's how I fixed it:
1. turned off power at breaker or pulled plug 2. Unscrewed two screws on top of unit 3. Removed exhaust vent cover/grill by sliding it to the left and out 4. Unscrewed single screw above LCD control panel 5. Removed control panel assembly by sliding it up and out and rested it on a box so wires wouldn't pull out 6. The control board behind the three buttons had dislodged from the clips 7. Secured the control board with the clips and added a little superglue to clips and extra foam padding to keep it from moving. 8. Screwed the control panel back in, powered up, and tested 9. Reattached the exhaust vent and screwed it back in
