Just got a Samsung g600, Under settingd I dont have 'sound settings' as with previous samsung fone. This means that I cannot assign a ring tone for text messages I cant find any way to do this. I also cannot turn off the keypad sounds when hitting buttons. I have searched the instruction booklet but can't find anything in there to help.

Hi, for anyone still having this problem with the newer Samsung phones, I just solved the issue I posted up earlier.

To disable keypad tones, but keep your ringtone etc active, go to Profiles -> edit your 'Normal' profile.
Press right on the selection pad twice to get to phone-related settings. Scroll down to the bottom of that page of settings to the 'Phone sound volume' option, select it and adjust it to zero.

This will turn off all keypad noises and other irritating beeps while not actually turning your phone on to 'silent mode', which would disable your ringtone etc.

Hope this helps, I know I was going insane with this phone until I figured out how to turn those sounds off.

Adding a personal Caller ringtone
You can make any kind of sound a personal ringtone for your contacts. First locate the sound you want to assign by following these steps:

  • From standby mode, click Menu
  • Highlight My files and click Select
  • The sound will be in either the Music or Sounds section. Highlight the relevent section and click Select (or just press 3 or 4 for quick access)
  • Navigate through the subfolders in either section to find the sound clip or MP3 you want to assign. Highlight the file and click Options.
  • Highlight Set as and click Select. When the pop-up menu appears, highlightCaller ringtone and press Select, or just press 2.
  • You'll be taken to your contact list. To assign a contact to the tone, highlight their name using the up and down nav keys and press the centre selection key. You'll see the confirmation message 'Changed' confirming the change.
  • Click the red End call key to return to standby mode.

What it sounds like your Samsung G600 is malfuctioning. This could be an result of water damage, previous droppings, etc. Take it back to your Carrier and demand a new phone, but make sure you show them the problem. If no new phone or compensation from the carrier call SAMSUNG (1-800-266-8282) Thanks!

Samsung G-600 still didn't allow to have your own Rings as "Message Tone", you can only select from the default ones.
