Question about Pioneer DEH-1400 CD Player

No sound I have a deh 1400 in my boat. I recently purchased the boat. The system worked great. Now I have no sound. The speaker wires are intact, the radio comes on and can be adjusted as if it were working fine, but no sound. What is wrong?

Speaker hook

Hi it's a problem in the set up . This model , like few other in the line have the possibility to switch the "back speakers" ( through harness or RCA) into "BASS SPEAKERS" what give you a possibility to hook up a Sub without an extra amp .
To switch it back just follow the Section 2 / Sw control of this link http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-3300UB_OwnersManual0902.pdf

I have a jvc system on my boat. It worked fine

Check all the wiring for the speakers. It is grounding out somewhere. I had the same problem with my kenwood in my truck. Its grounded most likely to itself if its a fiber glass boat.

Amplifier enable. Where to mount rmt hookup on pioneer deh-1400 (old) so my amp/sub can work!!!

Amp turn on wire should be a blue wire with a white stripe on that pioneer unit. extend that wire out to the amps remote turn on wire input. And once the radio is turned on it will sent a 12volt signl and turn on the amp.

I recently bought a boat with a Clarion ''premium'' sound system. The radio turns on but only the front 2 speakers work. The back four have nothing? Any ideas? Is it the radio itself, the amp, or both?...

first i would check the audio settings on the radio make sure the balance and fader are all at 0 and not favoring the front only if they check out o i would make sure the wires are wired right in the back of the deck

Volume fade

Check to be sure there are no speaker wires touching ground, and that the wires are connected in phase to the head unit.
Front Speakers 5 1/4" Doors Left Front (+) Green Left Front (-) Black/White Right Front (+) White/Red Right Front (-) Black/White Rear Speakers 6" x 9" Rear Deck Left Rear (+) Pink/Red Left Rear (-) Pink/Blue Right Rear (+) Pink/Light Blue Right Rear (-) Green/Red

The symptoms you are relaying definately sound like an internal amplifier problem. It is fading in and out for a reason - usually due to heat.

Have you had the radio bench tested (seperate from the car) to eliminate the car as being the culprit?

Since the radio was run with damaged speakers originally, the output or amplifier power supply on the amplifier may be bad.

As an alternative to repairing, I would suggest investing in a small 2 channel amplifier to power the speakers.

The radios claim 50W per channel, but in reality give 12-15W RMS power.

A dedicated amplifier with built in crossovers and gain adjustments will prolong the life of your speakers and add to the tonal qualities of your new speakers. Instead of turning up the volume on the head Unit, and sending out a distorted signal that will blow your speakers, an amplifier will give more CLEAN power to them, so it will be louder at a lower volume setting.

This will bypass the internal amplifier on the radio, and send a Low Level signal ONLY thru a set of RCA cables.

Good Luck!!

Stereo display works fine, but no sound to speakers.

The wires may have gotten wet and fried something in the sound output in the stereo.

No sound

Check your remote turn-on lead connection - you may have a factory amplified system which isn't getting turned on, which would explain the no sound.

Speakers dropping out & engine sounds

sounds like your amp is bad

remove the amp and hook your speakers directly to the radio if the problem stops
then the amp might be messed up

if you got another radio try the amp with that radio to "double" check that it is the amp

if the problem is still there with the speakers hooked to the radio then you need to fix or get another radio
