Not being difficult here, but I need more information...

  1. Does it do nothing, warm-up and stop, give a message, or just cause a jam? Can you see the job queued in the system or does the computer indicate the job was sent?
  2. Is it a network printer or local printer...and if local, is it USB or using LPT?
  3. Is it a laser or an inkjet printer? Printer only, or All-in-one?
  4. What is the Operating System your installing on?
Including make, model, and a general description of how it "doesn't print" helps too. If you really want the problem fixed, it really makes a difference when troubleshooting your issue.

If it is a USB device for example it is creating a virtual printer port which could be corrupted. LPT1 doesn't have that issue. Inkjets and all-in-ones have 3rd party software they use, where laser printers tend to use the driver only...

Installed new blk ink cart and others are all o.k. Will not print black at all - if I use the color button or try to print from the computer in color, words come out very light and other colors are not...

I assume that you inserted an new OEM black cartridge. If you are using aftermarket of refilled cartidges, change to an OEM cartridge.
- Press on the printer
- Press of and select
- Press of to choose , or
- Press
- The machine cleans the printerhead and goes back to the Ready screen when finished.
If you clean the head 5 times and things don't improve, the printer should be serviced at a printer service center.
If you are using aftermarket or refilled cartridges the ink is typically not up to manufacter specifications and can gum up the printheads.
