I have an acer aspire AST180 UA381B and I need the system restore disks but they do not carry them anymore. What can I do?

I would suggest you install Linux Mint 10, a free operating system.

Without the restore disks,you would have to buy a new Windows CD. Have a friend burn an ISO image of Linux Mint. Just go to www.linuxmint.com, and there are lots of helpful tips there on how to install. Linux Mint has a similar feel to Windows, so it should be good!

Why do I have 2 hard drives (c & D)? Can they be combined into 1 (c)? Also I only have 1 gb of ram and I need more. Is it upgradable to 4 gb of ram? If so where can I buy the additional ram?

Yes...
But you have to reformat the harddrive and then install windows.
with a CD
You do a fdisk, rermove all drives, then make a new drive with no additions. Then you format it using thorough , not quick format

Cannot use dvd cd/rom. keep getting "device cannot start (code 10). According to the computer the latest driver is installed.

hi, there are 2 issues (1) issue with drive (2) issue with drivers ( it is not test by Microsoft)

Yes, I've open my Acer Aspire and I am trying to

sorry.. it doesn't work like that you'll have to rely on the recovery managment tool that came with the computer. the reason it seems to get stuck(as you put it) is because it takes awhile to open the program and find the software needed to restore your computer. just be patient it should work just fine

Acer Aspire T 180 stops with Acer Logo

What you were trying to do tried to remove the RAM and boot your pc. Buddy once you remove your RAM you are going to get long beeps as it tells there is no RAM on mother board and it won't boot. Just install back all the things and let me know how many beeps you are getting and what type short and long.
