Ipod classic won't sync with itunes 10

Restarting your computer is often the solution when your iPod fails to sync with your iTunes music library. But if this fails, there are other troubleshooting steps to take.

Recharge your iPod via a USB cable connected to your computer or AC adapter. b> Click the help menu in iTunes and check for updates. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the latest version of the software. Open the new version of iTunes. Click the name of your iPod in the source list and check for updates under the summary tab to update your iPod. Attempt to sync your iPod with iTunes. Slide your iPod's hold switch to the hold position and then to off. Press and hold the menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears to reset your iPod. Open iTunes on your computer and reconnect your iPod to try to sync it with iTunes. Restart iPod service b> Close iTunes and make sure your iPod is disconnected from the computer. Click the 'start' button. Click 'run' if using Windows XP. Type 'services.msc' in the run box in XP and in the search box in the start menu in Windows 7 and Vista. Press 'enter.' Scroll through the list and double-click on 'iPod service.' Click the 'stop' button and leave the properties window open. Connect your iPod to the computer. Open 'my computer' or 'computer' and look for your iPod listed in the devices with removable storage section. Click the 'start' button in the iPod Service's properties window. Open iTunes to attempt to sync your iPod. Close the iPod Service's properties window once your iPod has finished syncing. Resolve "Original File could not be Found" Double-click the name of a song in the iTunes program that failed to sync to your iPod. Click 'yes' or 'locate' to the message asking you if you want to locate the file. Navigate to the folder or directory location where the song is stored on your computer. Double-click the song file to select it and add it back to iTunes. Reconnect your iPod to the computer and open iTunes to restart the syncing process. I dropped my ipod classic 80 gb. It can't be detected when i sync to my computer. I did a hard restart but it it says that my files will be deleted when i restore it with itunes. I dont wanna lose my files...

The only way to save the files is by connecting it to pc and storing them in a file. Try checking the usb connection inside the ipod. If there are any broken wires or solder joints, re-solder them or anything you can do to get it to connect.

Try connecting it, go to control panel, the ipod should be able to found on the I: drive.

Computer says songs are there iPod says there not

your ipod will not function properly with windows media player. it may play the music but it won;t get functionality from the ipod.
You have to use iTunes to get your ipod straightened out. Once you mount it on iTunes you will see the music and be able to add music and delete music.

My Ipod doesn't show up on Tune Tools

Hi,

Try Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.

My Ipod doesn't show up on Tune Tools

You may need to restore the iPod in iTunes. You could try to install Tune Tools on another Mac and see if it works there. It is possible that the software version you have does not support the Classic. There may be an updated version that you need to install to use it with the Classic. Check the authors site or the documentation for supported models.

Cheers

The computer says no audio output device is installed

Hi Sehajpg,

Did the sound used to work? Did you recently format the hard drive? any idea when the problem started?

there are many things that can go wrong but in the end this particular problem always is about the computer detecting the hardware (the sound card) and the installing of the drivers once the sound card is detected. You can find out a little bit of information by going to:

start menu>control panel>system(if you cant see "system" switch to classic view on the left)>hardware>device manager

I know its a lot of menus but once your there the device manager will tell everything about the innards of your pc. It will also tell you (with a big yellow question mark) what items its having a problem with.

Please go there and see if there is a question mark next to anything so we can get your sound working.

Try it, I wrote it for a Itouch / iphone generally but basicly if its a driver issue that should solve it.

If not, can you post me the status of the ipod from the device manager?
