Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
It sounds like your convergence amplifiers have failed, and they need to be replaced. This is a common problem, however it could be as simple as replacing the two STK392-1XX amplifiers and the biasing resistors or as complex as replacing them and the convergence coils (I have seen and done both). There are many articles on the Internet on how to do this yourself, but I do not recommend them even though many of them actually work. I don't recommend them because they have very little to do with troubleshooting a problem rather then just replacing what you think is bad (shotgunning). I do however suggest having a qualified TV service person check the convergence circuit and see if it has failed. The charge for this is not expensive and you get a parts and labor guarantee if the parts fail in 30 days. I think this is the best course, however, if you still feel the need to fix this yourself do a search in fixya for convergence amp replacement and it will point you to a number of helpful instructions.
I wish you well,
