It could be the drive, but it could also be the enclosure/controller electronics. I am in the process of swapping my second of three of these drives into a new enclosure. In both cases, the drive itself was just fine.

    Check that - in this case it turns out that the drive was actually bad after all. It seemed OK at first, but then failed. However, it is still a valid point that these problems could be either in the drive or in the controller. Of course it could also be a problem with the power supply/wall wart, but that should be fairly obvious.

You can't find the drivers because you don't need drivers for it, and since Beyond Micro went out of business they have no support for the drive anymore. Time to drop kick that baby back to the stone age.

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

Beyond micro mobile disk BMMDU2 is not recognized

The drive USB interface may be damaged; an external case is available form various vendors for about $20. The drive should pop out and into the new case. If still not recognized, then the ID track on the drive may be compromized - that can happen if the USB is unplugged while it is still writing to the drive. There is drive recovery software out there, like EASEUS that works quite well (they have a demo that you can try free) to see if that would work.

I require a driver for our Beyond micro external hard drive.

It looks as though there is no driver support for beyond micro although the specs state that the drive is plug and play. which means you just plug it in and windows sets it up. other than that there are no software or drivers for it.

best of luck.
hope this helped.
