Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Panasonic TH50PZ77U just went black. I've had it for 7 months...Xmas present. It powers on, but has no picture of any kind. Any idea what is wrong and/or how to fix it.

There seems to be a hardware failure inside your TV and it might not be a DIY.
This plasma still has manufacturers warranty. I would suggest to call Panasonic to ask them for the nearest authorized repair center to have it repair under their warranty.
Even if the plasma was a present still would be cover under warranty.
Good Luck

I had the same problem with my integra receiver. You can use RCA plugs which will do the same thing and not use HDMI the fix is cost prohibitive from what I was told.

Okay, so my Panasonic PT-43LC14 went black in mid show last night. The bulb is approximately 18 months old. The LED indicators upon Power On are; Power LED blinks green for approximately 70 seconds; Then...

Check the bulb again and look at the root of where the main stem comes out inside and be sure you don't see any bubble like appearence around the stem at the bottom there. If you do see this then the bulb is bad. Otherwise try this: Hold volume down on front of unit and pip on remote for about 5 seconds. Message will come on screen that timer has been reset to zero. This sets the lamp timer to 0

Turned oven on, it startrd for a split second then

The kinds of components making that sound at their death are typically high power diodes and capacitors. If it is only a single component it wouldn't be expensive but the failure may have been initiated by another failure.
If you remove the housing and find no fuse to replace, you may want to consider giving yourself an early Xmas present; labor $ will likely be fairly high.

Count the number of blinks. These are error codes. You will be better off to call a repair shop that is familiar with panasonic and the error codes.

Screen went black on my plasma tv

If the menu display isn't coming up either, then the odds are the power supply for the screen is the problem. Most manufactures call this a Backlight Inverter Board. Being that it's only 7 month old, it should still be under warranty by the manufacture. I would try to get it fixed by the warranty first if possible.

After 2years and 9 months the picture went black,

Most likely, capacitors in the power supply are bulged. It is not an expensive repair.
