Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Flashing yellow light beside veiwfinder.

The camera turns on fine and will take pictures, yet you can't veiw them on the camera itself. The directionial pad dosn't work nor the play button to view the photos. Also you can only set it on 3 modes movie, soft shot, and auto, everything eles on that wheel does not register to the camera. It is flashing a yellow light next to the veiw finder, and in the lcd the flash symbol is going also E:91:01

you might be seeing your cameras way of showing you that the highlights in your picture are "blown out" or way over exposed. try using a smaller f stop and flash.

My camera will turn on, then when screen is on for about 5 seconds, the screen turns off, and the red light beside the SIM card slot starts flashing.

Take out memory card form camera and turn it On, if camera stays On and shows normal view that means memory card is bad and causing problem.
Put new memory card in camera and take pictures.
Thanks.

I have no image in the viewfinder on a canon S2 IS but the lcd display works and it seems to work fine otherwise. What are the likely causes?

There is sometimes a button on digital cameras that turns off the LCD while taking pictures to save battery. Does your camera have a viewfinder? If it does then there might be a button that looks like a little screen or says "disp" or something like that.

Veiw finder(eye piece ) out of focus pictures are fine

Use the diopter adjustment to refocus the viewfinder to your eye.

Point the camera at a sign or something with writing on and half press the shutter button to focus then move the little adjuster at the top right of the viewfinder until the image in the veiwfinder is in focus

Sony N2 veiwfinder problem!

Can you see Shadow images[ indicating back light failure]
or Nothing at all[ Indication main circuit board or connector problem

If you are still in warranty then send it back to seller.

You could try gently squeezing the case below the screen to see if there is a chance of a re connection.
Also check out Sony support in case there is an issue with that model
Failing that it is a repair job
Prbably nearly as expensive as simply junking it and start over
