We bought our RCA HDTV R52WM24 less than 2 years ago at Circuit City...without the extended warranty. We called RCA today and they referred us to an Authorized Repair Center who quoted us $200-300 to fix the screen.
The problem with the TV seems like convergence...blurry picture with three line colors in an arc across top of screen. Is the fuse problem that others have mentioned? If so, is it possible to fix ourselves without having to solder? Many thanks for your assistance.

I dont think this problem can be fixed without solder work or part replacement of convergence section. Its no just matter of fuse. You should get repair facility from concern service center because TV has dangrous voltages inside and qualified person knows how to deal with TV.

I ALSO HAVE A 52 INCH RCA (2 YEARS OLD) I HAVE TRIED ALL OF THE TIPS THAT HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED. LUCKILY I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS UNIT.. AFTER A MONTH OF OVER THE PHONE TROUBLE SHOOTING FROM WARRANTY REPAIR CENTER THIS INCLUDED REMOVING THE BATTERIES IN CASE THE REMOTE WAS BAD. THEY FINALLY CAME AFTER IT YESTERDAY. THE PICKUP BOYS SAID THAT THEY ARE HAVING A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THESE UNITS DOING THIS SAME THING. THEY ALSO SAID THAT SOME WERE BEING REPLACED WITH NEW ONES. NOT SURE IF RCA OR WARRANTY IS REPLACING (MINE WAS PURCHASED FROM BESTBUY WITH BEST BUY WARRANTY). IF ANYONE HAS SPOKEN TO ANYONE ABOUT A REPLACEMENT PLEASE RESPOND. I THINK IF THERE ARE SOME UNITS BEING REPLACED WITH NEW ONES WE ARE MORE THAN LIKELY GETTING THE SAME DEFECTIVE UNITS (WHICH WILL MORE THAN LIKELY WORK UNTIL OUT OF WARRANTY). I WISH THEY WOULD JUST GIVE REFUNDS OR CERTIFICATES TOWARDS NEW DIFFERENT UNITS MAYBE IF THERE WERE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THIS MIGHT BE CONSIDERED.
If you purchased an extended warranty for the TV then you will need to call 1-866-839-4481 That number is for Assurant Solutions who handle the warranties sold by Circuit City and other dealers. If its under manufactures warranty still, then call the manufacturer via the number provided in your owners manual and they will assist in locating an authorized servicer in your area. you dont need new CRTs (tubes) you need either the convergence Board or the convergence power supply board depending on the symptoms. If its only one color that is out of alignment its most likely the convergence board. If all the colors are out of alignment you need the convergence power supply board. you can get whichever one you need at the following link as they have both of those circuit boards and have free shipping. the problem you are having can be fixed with an adjutment that has to be done on the power supply. you will need a thec to do this adjustment. as for the remote you can get them here. http://www.newtvremotes.com/Mfrs/Samsung/SamsungTV/BN5900429F.htm
as for the extended warranty if it is still under manufacturers warranty you should be able to get it from the place you purchased it from( if they offer it) or the manufacturer.
That can be a problem in these sets. Did you buy an extended warranty? I did. From Circuit City for 4 years and I am glad I did. Had a main board replaced in home already. And as of yesterday my tube was starting to go. So I am now waiting to see if they will just give me a brand new TV. All at no cost.
The mirror may be dirty but unless you are a smoker or have a lot of dust I doubt it. If you are a smoker then that might be a problem. The giant mirror on the inside might be dirty. The front clear cover comes off with screws around the edges - quite a bit of them. then the screen - check to see if it is dirty when you take it off. Then you should be able to see the mirror in the back. It might be dirty. Be careful not to get and particles on your tubes. They will show up on screen when you watch them. If everything is OK and not dirty then you are screwed and might need new tube. you will have to call tech.
