Question about Sampo PME-42V3 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

Black Screen My screen goes completely black after a few minutes of being on. Here are some specifics: It happens on all the inputs and with a variety of sources. IF allowed to cool down (rest?) the images come back then the problem reoccurs at about the same time. It almost feels like a warmup issue. Here is the real issue. I live about 100 miles from a city. I can do alot with repair of electronics due to that very fact of being so far away, but in this area i do not know where to start. I would probably not mind buying a service manual but if the thing is irrepairable, id rather not and just sell it for parts. Ok thanks and i look forward to hearing from ya'll. Reuben

Reuben. On the Power Supply PCB marked QPWB11326-1B-4 you'll find a Component marked,
TH701 just above the Fuse! Remove this component and bridge it out!
This should solve your problem! Contact me on engineering@elektroniktechnisch.co.za

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

I have a 1999 model...when you turn it on the screen is a black square all but like a picture frame on the outer edge...when i hit the volume the screen comes back for a few seconds and then goes black....

Goe to the setup menu and turn off closed caption.Does it do this on all inputs. Closed caption is only on rf input as far as the tv is concered. If this is happening on input which is connected to cable box or sat reciever call your serv provider.

My screen keeps going black any ideas?

If it's not showing anything and goes to sleep mode, then did you try to select the proper input from the monitor's on-screen menu?
Otherwise I can't help you unless you are more specific - when does it go black, right away or after 10 minutes of watching a movie for example?...

check your closed caption, long time ago there were 4 cc options. Turn it completely off, that might get rid of it.

Plasma tv screen goes black once you turn it on. Only sound

I have a panasonic TH-42PX60U plasma TV. When I watch TV programing I have no problems, or with the DVD input. But if I switch to another input, be it video game (PS2) or vcr the screen sometimes goes black and the red power lcd light next to the power switch flashes. Holding the power button in for a few seconds will shut down the tv. Then I can turn it back on and it may operate normally again for a undetermined period of time, before the screen goes black again. This never happened when new. The tv is about 1 year old. Any ideas on this problem? Thanks Ernie

Screen goes black and power light goes out after a few minutes

it would seem that one of the internal components has failed / overheated Dont open the rear of the monitor !

if pos drop it into your nearest pc repair shop and have is serviced it may just need cleaned to free it from dust build up
on the inner parts this may be causing the unit to over heat
