Philips 42PF3320/10 plasma tv screen goes blank but power remains on

Hi.
I have a problem with my 42 inch plasma tv,when tv is turned on green L.E.D appears on bottom right and tv works as normal. After 40 minutes to an hour tv makes click sound and screen goes blank the green L.E.D changes to red on the bottom right there is still power going to the tv hence the red L.E.D.Then when i plug it out and plug it back in red L.E.D appears but screen remains off it stays like this for 3 to 4 hours before tv comes back on and the same is repeated again after 40 minutes or so.

Hello, A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.
You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed. This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot! Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
I hope that this help to rectify the fault of the projection TV....

the more the tv remains on the picture gets out of focus mainly in the midle of screen. Sure sounds like tv needs some light engine repair or replacement.

Most likely a capacitor in the power supply went out. otherwise it may be a bad relay if there happens to be one.
Most reason for a tv not turning on at all is bad power supply

Mine was doing the same thing. Update the firmware and it fixes the problem. Updating the firmware is done by downloading the file to a thumb-drive from the phillips product support page then plugging in the drive into the side of your television and turning it on. See your manual for slightly better instructions.

You have no high voltage, like many in this forum, this model of Philips has some of the same problems. Look around here you may find the answer to your set. If not check Vertical IC, TDA8177, audio ic on signal board up front on left. check Power supply first for blown fuse, 1000, 2004, 1300, 1900 etc. No sound or pic means something is open. Does set has L E D lights on front of set?
