I was given the battery

I was given the battery powered blender as a gift, Used it once. Worked great. I charged it again, took it camping and nothing. The instructions say make sure the switch is off. How do you do that? There is no indicator light to say it is on? Are the lights suppose to stay on when it is charged? When I take the charger off the lights go out, even thought they are no longer blinking when I unplug it. HELP! I love this blender but it has only worked the one time.....
