Re: Server is busy message
I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.
Sometimes when more than one scanner are or have been installed on a computer, the Operating System will query all devices for their status when interacting with the scanners. Specifically when an applications asks for a list of available scanners, this can create some confusion for the scanning sub-system. Most often one scanner is set as the default. When another scanner is selected, the message that you have described can appear, because the OS is attempting to communicate with the wrong device. You can manually reset the OSs default You can troubleshoot this issue using this article from our Knowledge Base.

The short answer is no. Very frustrating. For three years they have promised to develop it and now have chosen to discontinue any support for the 510 and instead tell you to spend several thousand dollars for a new Documate 3220 scanner. No thanks - so long Xerox

you probably have something on the scanning bulb when it goes through the feeder. The scanning bulb is directly to the left of where you use the flatbed. Clean that glass with a dry, clean cloth and you should be back in business.
Click the "+" next to "Imaging Devices". This will show all Imaging Devices previously and currently connected to the computer.

If there is no Found New Hardware message when the scanner is turned back on and the scanner is not listed in Device Manager under Imaging Devices or Other Devices, this typically means the scanner is not communicating correctly with the computer. Try plugging the scanner into a different USB port or using a different USB cable.
