The DVD section is set to output as component video / progressive scan. You need to set it to either S or composite video output which is how your VCR is hooked up. Thats why you have no picture.

OK The next thing I will suggest then is that it is possible that the if you are connected with component video cables on the DVD section then either at the TV or DVD player the GREEN wire ( red green blue for component video ) has come loose or is dissconnected. A TV will show no picture if just the green signal is lost...If the red or blue are loast the pictures color is off but the loss of the green results in no image at all becuae the sync info is sent along with the green picture info.

How do I turn off the Progressive Scan on the DVW-7200 DVD/VCR. when it's on, the thing won't play any type of media

ok alot of people wrote a review to other questions similar to this one.. and they forget one key instruction. it has to be the play button on the dvd side of the combo player physically not the remote you press and hold the actual play button on the device for 5 or more seconds and the light will turn off. Then it we play and there will be a picture on the screen.. i hope this helped because that is how i fixed mine.

Sanyo dvw 7200 dvd only plays sound no video

It sounds to me as if you have the connectors (phono plugs aka RCA plugs--Yellow = video; Red = right audi channel; White = left audio channel) switched OR the yellow isn't connected.

Sounds really broken. Unless you can find a replacement DVD drive for low money , you may have to junk it.
