You either have a wrong connection or a defective thermostat.

the fan when switch to auto will run as the heater or ac is running and when in the "on " position, it will always run.

there is a problem in the connection of the cool or heat contact to the fan relay that is why it is not running if you place it on auto.

trace the diagram of the thermostat and you would know where the problem is...

i hope i ws able to solve ur problem..

pls rate me

tnx 4 using fixya..

I am new to a heat pump. The thermostat has an 'auto' setting and an 'on' setting. I am confused as to which one to use for heat. Can you help me?

n most heat pump thermostats you have two control switches and the temp setting. One control switch will say "Heat", "Off", "Cool" while the other says "On" and "Auto". The three position switch is for whether you are heating or cooling. The two position switch is for the fan control. "On" will make the fan run constantly whenever the three position switch is in HEAT or COOL mode. Some people use this to circulate air at all times. MOST people use the AUTO mode, where the fan is controlled by the circuitry and runs during the times of heating and cooling only.

Amana ptac during heat mode will blow hot air , then blow cold , but will cycle back to heat eventually is this Normal?

if the fan switch is in the Run position and not the auto position you are getting cool are when the heat element is not on. this is kind of like a way to circulate the air. look for an auto setting it then should only come on when needed. Keep in mind it is normal for the fan to start blowing before the heating element is warmed up, this prevents it from over heating, or coming on when the fan is not working

Blower runs constantly both warm and cool air

If talking about a hot air furnace check that you dont have t stat fan switch in auto position. As this will run blower continously regardless if calling for heat or cool is has ac also.

On ac the fan will not turn on.

Hello, jump the rgy wires togethur at the thermostat subbase and let me know if it starts up. If it does the termostat is bad, if not the relay on the intergrated control bad is bad and must be replaced.

To turn on the air conditioner, on the thermostat do you click it to Auto and then on the other side click to Cool? Or do you click on Fan and Cool?

If you put the fan to auto, the fan will run only when the compressor runs. the other position it will run untill you switch it back to auto. Then cool unless you require heat at night or in the morning, usaually when I start cooling season the heat stays off.

Only blowing air when i program for heat

Generallyif gas, the heat speed is low and routed through a normally closed switch in the fan relay, the fan relay has another inverseley proportional switch to the normallyclosed m a normally open one that sends power to high speed for AC or fan on position rather than fan auto. In auto the normally closed has power passed through to a temperature or time delay, that controls the heat or low speed.

The furnace send signal to the fan in about 30 seconds, now this fan is set in auto from my termostat, my problem is the fan is starting slowly and some time it don't start, but if I use the option manual...

Depending on the model of the furnace, the blower is either a 2 or 3 speed. When the furnace operates in heating mode with the thermostat in the auto position, the furnace starts the fan when the furnace reaches a specific temperature or after a set time delay, but it operates the fan in low or med low speed on heat mode, when you put the thermostat fan switch in the "ON" position, the furnace operates the fan in "HI" speed, the same speed used for cooling mode. You may have a blower moter that is starting to short. I would recommend having a professional replace the motor before now before it becomes an emergency in the middle of the night during a cold spell.

The furnace is blowing warm air even if the thermostat low.

The only thing that tells the unit to come on and off is the thermostat so I would definatly say it is it. When you turn the system back on, does the a/c run normally? If it does, then it's the problem with the heating side of the tstat. Also, does the fan come on when you put it to on and then turn of when you switch it back to auto? If it does, then the system is working fine, its the t-stat. Let me know if you have any more problems.
