Question about Projection Televisions

4 Answers

I have a phillips 60pp9100d that has no picture or sound. I keeps flashing I2c bus error. I have resoldered the flyback connections and anything else that looked suspect. After turning the tv back on I get the same result,I can hear the flyback powering up as before but thats it. Do I need to proceded with replacing the Ic chips or go in another direction?

IC7302 should be checked for in and out voltages to see is its the IC
istself that is at fault or possibly a leaky diode after or before the
IC. Checking pin voltages will be the only way to track the problem
down and isolate exactly whats happening. If you need more assistance
    please let me know

You need to rectify the problem first then replace any part. If you have its service manual, try to daignose the reson of error and locate the problem area.

T/v work for an hour and picture is gradually disapear but the sound keep on working. Sound like a video problem?

Problem will be in the Deflection Board, Could be from Poor Solder Connections,
You need to resolder all the pinns on the FBT flyback Transfomer.
These sets are well k nown for bad solder connections and alot of other things.
PTS is where you can ship the board for repair. 1-800-844-7871

Hi,
The I2C message that you get means the Inter IC communication bus on the system board has gone bad. Replacing the IC would not solve the problem.Philips patented this technology to reduce the number of ICs on the systemboard. There would be a physical I2C chip on the motherboard.
You can read about the technology on the post by philips
http://www.nxp.com/acrobat_download/applicationnotes/AN10216_1.pdf

I would suggest update the firmware on the board, or try replacing the I2c interface controller chip.
