When u use a monitor, it shows graphic but sometimes not configured it properly. so configure your monitor with that pc.
right click on destop and go to properties---->settings--->monitor--->properties---->driver, and select the monitor company and its model and install it.

Dell Dimension 3000 Video problem

There may be a problem with your windows installation. Search Google for Hirens boot CD, it is a free download and should contain a live XP installation. When you turn on the computer tap the appropriate button to reach the boot menu, then insert the CD and select your CD drive. Once booted it should display a live XP.
Alternatively you may have your monitor set to an incompatible resolution. If tapping F8 won't display the advanced boot menu then try finding an auto setup on your monitor or change the resolution using the monitors controls. If the advanced boot menu does display then select low resolution mode.
Hope this helps,

I just want basic hook up from my hp compaq to dell flat screen

Most Monitors use the 15 pin cable that is compatiable with almost any computer. I would check the back of your computer for the blue monitor port and then check the cable on the monitor to see how many pins there is.

When I hooked up the new Dell monitor my HP computer quit working.

What is the type of connector for the dell monitor? IS IT VGA or DVI. The HP computer is a notebook or desktop. Are you connecting to the onboard video or video card.Check if the monitor is passing self test feature. Then try connecting with HP computer. Good luck

Are Dell monitors not compatible with older HP Pavilion Computer? I tried to connect my HP CPU to a Dell monitor and it will not recognize it at all.

It shouldn't make any difference which monitor you are connecting to any computer. In fact, I am running a 19" HP Flat Panel on my Dell Dimension 2400 right now. It is NOT a wide screen monitor as the Dell built in graphics card will not support the RESOLUTION RATIO required for the wide screen. Check what setting is "native resolution" for your monitor and see if your graphics card will support it. If not, using your old monitor, try different resolution settings. Right click on your desk top, click on properties and that should bring up the display properties box. Try a lower setting as larger settings are the ones that will give you a black screen. It will probably give you a smaller picture on your old monitor, or perhaps smaller or larger icons on the desk top. Accept the new settings, turn off your computer and switch monitors, and turn your computer back on. If you get a picture, but it does not fill the whole screen or the icons seem too large or small, then go back into properties from the desktop and try a different resolution ratio until the picture seems correct.

Memory upgrade problems

Hmm if the pc takes DDR Ram , it should deffently take 512 sticks, have u tried booting the computer with just the one 512 stick ? or try putting the 256 stick in and 1 x 512 stick , test it that way with both sticks , some older computers there is a bios setting for upgrading to higher amount of memory, but in your case with DDR ram i dont think so , i mean it may be worth a shot going into bio's and load optimized defaults , press f10 to save settings, try one stick at a time after that , if still no go , there is a jumper pin on the mother board that u can move over a slot which will restet the bios, if u dont know this jumper pin or where it is, just remove the round battery on the motherboard for 30 seconds , then put it back in , try your new ram then , u will be asked to save settings on boot up , if it still dosent work the ram is either faulty or incompatible, alot of the time with Dell , HP /Compaq desktops there fussy with the type of ram they take, but if u ordered from dell it should have worked !! whats the brand name of the ram u have is it hynix? /HP this brand of ram has alot of issues with compatibility,
