Go to a major auto parts store and have them read out the stored trouble code(s). They will do it for free. With the code, you can start to trouble shoot what is wrong.

Left cap off on windshield wiper reservoir cap for few weeks now light indicator cap light on could this have damaged something cant pass emmission test

Depending on what vehicle you have, the service engine soon light for the OBDll system may contain this code. If it does, then that is why you failed. Go to a parts store and see what code is in the OBDll system. Add some reservoir fluid tho the system to turn off the light. It is probably low.

I have a 2001 hyundai sonata, I have a light that is coming on, in the manual it says gas, exhaust light, what is that?

emmission light.
there is a small vapour leak in the fuel sytem of your car.
this doesn`t mean your leaking liquid gas -only a small amount of fuel vapours.
the emmission system of today`s vehicle are very sensitive, and when the car`s computer monitors this, it will display this information thru your dash warning light.
yor car is still safe to drive, but eventually you will have to fix this problem in order to pass a drive -clean -emmission test. See your service repair shop for further diagnostics..

Code large air leak (emmission light stays on)

You need the code
Then you find the problem in the EVAP System
An EVAP Smoke Machine, would have you making the repair in about 3 minutes.
So unless you can find a loose hose, broken fitting Etc,you need professional help.
Then the job is completed with a scanner to test system, I doubt your spending 8 thousand for that piece of test equip.
Now you know why cars cost a lot to fix.

The emmission light in my ford fusion is on what is it

the emmisssion light comes on to alert you to the fact that a fault has occured in the electronic engine and emmission control system, there are over 200 such faults poss and each has it's own distinct fault code that is set in memeory whenever the light comes on, if u have less than 70,000 miles on this car it is likely this will be covered by the US Goverment mandated emmssion system warranty.

Check engine emmission message

the emission system on any car sold n the USA is tested and certificated by the EPA to not pollute for 100,000 miles, these systems include the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system, the fuel vapor control system, the catalytic converters, the various sensors on the engine such as lambada sensors and engine temp sensors plus many others
