Yesterday our power flickered off and then about 5 minutes later it came back on. And now-my brand new printer will not come back on. It's plugged in (to a working outlet). My printer is the Officejet J6480 All-In-One. I love my printer and all of it's features. Please help!!

Try another outlet or try another power cable if you have a spare or if its replaceable. If all fails and product is under warranty, call manufacturer for replacement.

When the printer is powered on, it makes a tweeting noise, and the display is blank.

Have you tired unplugging it for 5 minutes to reset the programming? If that doesn't work you likely have a failed printer, since printers have become dirt cheap for the home it is better to just replace it than try and fix it.

Selling machine want to clear all memory

Hi javajan15019,

Clearing the memory of your printer depends on the brand and sometimes the model. You may try the procedure I have below:

1. Shut down your computer.

2. Next, allow your printer to shutdown and unplug the unit from the outlet

3. For 5 minutes let the computer remain off to give enough time for the memory to be lost.

4.Plug the printer back into the electrical outlet. Press the power button to turn on the unit. Turn the computer back on. The printer memory has now been cleared and is ready for use.

It will be better if you provided the specific brand and model.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Printhead error after brand new installation. Cleaned the head. Firmware update get stuck on 20% completion.

Try these steps instead:

1. Remove the printhead from the printer.
2. Reset the printer by unplugging the power adapter from the printer (should be the whole black box on the back of the printer), leave it unplugged for about a minute then plug it back in.

3. Once the printer is back on, it will ask for the printhead. Just disregard the message by pressing or CANCEL button on your printer screen. Do not install the printhead yet.
4. Then, please use this link: to download and run the firmware on your computer. Please make sure that the USB cable is attached from the printer to the computer while you do this.
5. Once the firmware update is complete, you may reinstall the printhead.

Brand new printer just installed 5 minutes ago. Paper is jamming on every feed. Is there a possibility that the rollers are not ggod and I have to bring the printer back where I bought it?

Doesn't matter what is good or bad. It is a brand new printer, don't void the warranty.
Pack it up and bring it back.
Get it exchanged for one that works.

We had a power outage yesterday, and now my printer won't turn on. Any ideas on how I can restart it?

Sometimes those power bricks will go into resonance.
Unplug the unit from the wall or power strip.
wait 1 full minute then plug it back in.
Honestly, that should do it!
Good luck!
(if that doesn't work, post a reply here)

Ink Tank not recognized

Here's info on the reset:
When your printer detects a problem with the cartridge you are attempting to use, a flag is set inside the device. This flag may not reset until you perform a hard reset on the device.

1. Verify that the printer is turned on.
2. Open printer's lid/top cover and remove all of the cartridges from their carriers. Close the lid/top cover.
3. Unplug the power cord from the printer.
4. Wait for 10 minutes.
5. Plug the power cord back into the printer.
6. Open the lid/top cover and reinsert both cartridges back in to their carriers.
7. Turn the printer on.
8. Print a test page.

All lights keep blinking

I would try some simply things first. 1. Pull the power plug and wait for approximately 15 to 20 minutes before plugging back into outlet. 2. If your power plug is plugged in a power strip then try pluggin directly into the wall outlet. 3. I would make sure there are no paper jams. 4. If you recently installed ink cartridges, then check to make sure they are the right make and model for your printer. Comments: If you had a power surge the printer may just need to be powered off for awhile. Some printers will hold there settings for at least 15 minutes.

Error message

Canon has a decent trouble shooting guide for this model: Click on the Step-by-Step Troubleshooting link under Tech Support Unfortunately for this error code, all it says is this: Turn the machine off, and remove the power plug from the outlet. About ten minutes later, plug it in again, and turn the machine on. If the problem is not resolved, the machine may require servicing. Please contact your local Service Center.
