Question about Insignia 37" LCD Flat-Panel HDTV

Open Question

Blue Shadows Why would this tv all of a sudden start displaying blue shadows not only in the black parts of the screen, but also in the part of the screen that is actually showing the picture? The shadows are usually the person's head which radiates up to the black part of the screen. For example, you are watching a movie, and the ratio is 16:9 and you have a top and bottom part of the screen that's black right? Well, that is where these shadows appear, and now it just started displaying those shadows in the white areas of the picture. So what is going on?

I will give that a shot. I'm really disappointed though, considering this is a brand new set, and definitely not cheap. I wanted to get this for my family, since we watch alot of movies and play games with the XBox 360, and it does have a beautiful picture for the money involved. I hope this works, since I really dont want to be without a tv while they tinker with it. Thanks...

My 42" just started flickering with mostly blue coloring and the letters on screen showing shadows. What wrong with it, cam it be repaired?

Without knowing the model I can only guess you may have bad capacitors on the power board and possibly on the inverter(s) as well. If you buy a new TV, get the extended warranty.

Check settings first to make sure no one changed anything out of the ordinary. Are the shadows that of a color or darkened shadow? It could be out of convergence, which can be corrected in the menu - or it could be low quality video cables to. Also, if there is no green, does a white color show up when you're in a menu mode (Red+Blue+Green = White Image)? If so, then the green picture tube is working and it's just a color adjustment, otherwise you may have to invest in a new green picture tube.

Blue shadows

Looks like you need to adjust some panel voltages, usually the VS or VSCAN voltages, the panel on the inside of the set has a label with all these voltages on it and there are test points and small adjustors for changing these voltages, lower the VS voltage about 10 volts and while adjusting them have it hooked up and turned on, so you can watch the changes take place, if your not sure how to do it get an electronics specialist to do it, these tv's are loaded with high voltagers and can cause severe shock, be careful
