Sometimes you need to restart the computer so the TV sees it. You might first try turning the TV off and back on and see if that will do it.
You may also need to change some display settings on your computer. We have Windows vista and have to go to our computer settings, (personalize), then display settings. If you see an "identify monitors" or something similar on your computer, click on that.

I have a toshiba satellite p755, it use to be able to hook up to my HD TV with the HDMI chord but now its not connecting..whats the problem?

Make sure all connections Power ,HDMI and any other connecting leads have secure dust free connections also check each lead for any kinks / bends .
Connecting a Toshiba Satellite Laptop to a TV is an ideal way to enjoy videos, photos and other media on the laptop on a much larger screen.
Satellite Laptops can be connected to TVs using VGA, S-Video and even HDMI, though the TV has to have compatible inputs as well.

Connect the RGB cable or S-video cable to an open input on the TV.
Depending on the type of TV, it may or may not have a RGB input.
S-video may have to be used instead.
Connect the 1/4 inch to RCA Y-cable into the TV using the same input as the VGA or S-video cable.
Connect the other end of the VGA or S-video cable and the audio cable into the laptop.
The video ports are on the sides of the laptop.
The audio cable should go into the headphone jack of the laptop.

How to turn on rgb from lap top to tv.

In order to connect your laptop to your TV using RGB, you need an RGB adapter. RGB is also known as component video; it breaks up a video signal into red, green and blue. laptops do not have RGB outputs. However, many laptops have VGA, DVI or HDMI outputs. An RGB adapter connects the single VGA, DVI, or HDMI cable to an RGB cable, which is actually three different cables tied together. INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Connect either the VGA, DVI or HDMI (in the order of increasing video quality) cable to the VGA, DVI or HDMI port on your laptop, depending on what is available. 2. Connect the other end of the cable to the side of the RGB adapter with the single input. 3. Connect the RGB cables to the red, green and blue ports on the other side of the RGB adapter. 4. Connect the other end of the RGB cables to an available component input on the back of the TV. 5. Tune the TV to the component video input you used through your television's menu. 6. Turn on your laptop. The laptop should now display on your TV screen.

I have a Sampo PME42x9 monitor that I am trying to get to work with my laptop. I set the input to RGB and hook it to the laptop and then use the Fn key with F8 and nothing happens. On the monitor it says...

The problem of course is not the computer since you communicate well when using the Samsung TV. The problem is your Sampo. The Video Ports are:
    Composite Input (Shared w/ S-Video) RCA-pin x 2 S-Video Input (Shared w/ Composite) Mini DIN 4-pin x 2 Component Video Input RCA-pin x 2 Sets (Y/CB/CR, Y/PB/PR auto detect) DVI Input (with HDCP) DVI-D 24 pin x 1 RGB Input D-Sub 15-pin x 1
If the RGB WILL NOT COMMUNICATE, I suggest you try RCA/DVI/ or shared composite. You may need adapters, but with so many options, just try other methods.

NO RGB SIGNAL - VIZIO HDTV TO LAPTOP

I've been online looking for a solution to this problem and couldn't find a fix until today. I just got off of the phone with a Vizio Tech. He told me that some pc's have a way for the monitor to show the screen externally, and that there's usually a button, sort of like the input option on your TV but its an output button for a laptop in my case. It should look like a picture of a TV in and out of each other. Mine was located on the number four key. I had plugged in my wires and put the TV input on RGB. then on my laptop pressed the function key and number 4 key at the same time and what do you know, I had a picture on my screen. I almost gave up on my vizio but love it even more now. I hope this helps.
