Renault Scenic from 2006. I have the relevant radio code for my radio, printed on my service book, together with the VIN, and enter it using the small wheel on the "audio stalk". When I hold the button after entry of the last digit, the radio beeps and displays the message ERROR. I have tried this several times and the same thing happens each time. Am I doing something wrong or should I go to a dealer? MikeUK

Was the battery power lost to the radio?

If you go to a Honda dealer with your vehicle details they will probably be able to find the code for you from factory records,,,,I did this with an old scenic at Renault dealer

you might find the code through renault but it is unlikely that you will find it on here with the vin. if you have any paperwork with the vehicle check through that, it may be jotted down somewhere, maybe in the radio section. You could always ask the previous owner.

you shold have the number in your owners handbook if not you can go to main dealer with v5 log book and id licence etc they will give you the code it may cost 10 pound

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your Renault service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

It will cost £8 but will show how to enter code etc
Have you tried your local renault dealer,give them your vehicle vin number,they might give it to you for nothing

Turn on the radio and the display will show 'CODE'
 
Use the steering controls for code entry.
 
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct first digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct second digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct third digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct fourth digit
 
If the correct code is now shown on screen, 
press and hold the [ ¬] button for up to 10 seconds to store the code

Hi - the way to enable code mode is to turn off the radio - then hold down 2&5 & press the on button - this will bring you into the 0000 code mode.
