Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Trying to restore an Apple iPod first generation mp3 player. Seems to be going through the routine until finally, when all seems well, the 3 language message reappears. Any ideas?

    Hi Aaron,

    Thanks for your response.

Didn't fix the problem. Here is a breakdown step-by-step what happens.

    iTunes running
Plug in iPod Nano 1 gen via USB
Message: iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted.
    Select restore
iPod goes and looks for update and can't connect. Restore using same version? Hit yes
    Are you sure
    Hit yes
    Message: Restoring iPod.
Message: iPod has been restored. There is a 15 second countdown.

At the end of the countdown, messages go away and seems all is well. After about 5 secs, the Message: iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. again appears.

    Any further ideas?

Hey brayhead2,

When you restore an iPod to factory settings you should be allowed to reselect your system configuration and iTunes synching preferences. While this may be what you're encountering, there may not necessarily be a way to verify this based on the information already provided. As such, it would be important to know if the Apple logo and progress bar ever appeared during the restore, or if you were ever prompted to rename your iPod. If the progress bar completed and this is the first thing displayed, then the restore should have been completed successfully and all that you would need to do is configure your iPod to your original custom settings.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

I have an ipod. Somehow I went to the menu and changed the language. Can you assist me in changing it back to English?

I have the same ipod, so i know where you are coming from. First go to settings. After you reach settings, the first thing in that menu will be "about". scroll down until you reach "language", press the center button, and the first language should be english!:) i used my ipod to figure it out, it is right here on my desk!

I chnaged the language by mistake and I do not

The easiest way for you to get it back to English would be to restore it back to factory settings. First, you should back up all of the stuff that you have on the ipod as restoring it will erase everything off of it. Then go into itunes and go to the ipods main page where memory information is. There should be right under the picture of the ipod 2 boxes, one saying check for updates and the other saying restore to factory settings. Click that one and after it finishes, it should be back in English.

Try unplugging and plugging it in, if that doesnt work, try resetting: hold the menu and center button until the apple logo comes. than after it has restarted than plug it in.

Error 1416 is very similar to 1418 (you might actually get the latter if you try it again). Try following the directions found here. Does the iPod have any other problems (syncing or anything else)? What changed since the last time you restored it (if you ever did)? Also, try disabling your internet security software.
