Question about Computers & Internet
I am unable to get a camera to work in Skype. I have been able to get my A4 Tech webcam to work with Ekigo as it gives a lot of options, but Skype won't recognize it. It also will not recognize when I plug my Fujifilm S3000 digitalcamera in to use as a webcam.
I have tried testing with camorama and been unable to get a picture yet.
I have searched the ubuntu forums and checked the driver which is recognixed in Ubuntu 8.
I have done all the updates about 2 days ago and am still stumped.
The same goes for my HP 1000 laserjet printer. I have checked and downloaded and reconfigured countless times. I have unplugged.
I changed a setting on the weekend and it is the only time it has worked. I have tried different ways of configuring, I have deleted and started from scratch.
(Noobs have to learn fairly fast with Linux)
Please, I am spending too long doing the config and not enjoying all the other facets of this product.
I am running Ultimate edition 1.8 based on Ubuntu 8.whateva with all updates and drives redownloaded.
Web Camera’s have to be
setup on the program they are to be used with.
Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to
broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:
C. Windows Live Messenger:
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud
