My ps3 will put green dots and other stuff on the screen and then eventually freeze up. ive taken it apart more than a few times now and i cant figure it out. i thought i had the problem fixed the first time i took it apart by leaving the top half off and settin a big fan infront of it to help keep it cool. that worked for a moth or so but now the problems back and i cant get it figured out. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

SAFE MODE: Place your finger on the on/off sensor leave it their until you machine turns off then take your finger off, place your finger back on the on/off sensor leave it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off. Once in safe mode select the option PS3 System Restore. NOTE: The system restore will delete all of your saved game data I recommend backing up you system if you can.

Taking you PS3 lid off and placing a fan over the top won't cool anything except the Blue-Ray deck and power supply if anything is causing an overheat it would be under the metal plate that those 2 components are sitting on and even then the overheating is on the underneath side of the motherboard where the heat-sink fan is. If the system is getting to hot it has a safety feature and your PS3 will turn off usually causing the YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH which would force you to take your console down the motherboard and do a flux and reflow of the board. Good Luck!

How do i get the access code for epix.hd for ps3 console

I am having issues with mine same as most above.
I would like to try and reformat/restore settings but it freezes before i can even get the settings page.
Some times the tv doesn't even recognise that there is anything plugged in.
When i leave it for a while it loads up normally but then freezes.
with colourful pixels all over the screen.
Taken it apart, cleaned it still nothing.
i have fixed YLOD on it twice would this have caused something else to break?
it has worked since the last YLOD fix but its b*g*rd up now.
Any one got any solutions as to how to reformat hard drive if you cant turn the ps3 on?

Ps3 is freezing after 10-15 min have taken mach. apart and cleaned, seems as if fan is running

Try new heatsink paste on the CPU and GPU. Sounds like you are having a heat problem. Check how hot the power supply box is getting as i have replaced a few that got extremely hot and would make the PS3 shutdown, no video, frozen screen ect. If it is the power supply there are a few places you can purchase them online. Good Luck.

Screen freeze, with green dots!

Its a small group of solder balls 3-4 under the GPU that
have broken in to thhreads , and will disconnect all together
from the main board , it some time will start with a flickery
screen during start up .

The only permanent solution is to dig a hole.... just kiding
The GPU will need to be re-flowed and properly secured to
the PC board .

That fixes the problem permanently
and that goes for 98% of all of The 360s problems

When PS3 boots the screen turns green with white dots

Emergency cooling should be cleaned. If not cleaned, you risk expensive repair.

Ps3 freezes at startup screen/ green red dots/lines,

Turn off the PS3 with the switch on the back, then turn back on. wait till the light is solid red then hold your finger on the start button for abount 10 seconds until you hear it beep twice.

It will then ask you to connect a controller via the usb cable and press the PS button. Once you do this it will bring up the reset menu.

Unfortunately the only way I found that solves this is a full system restore that wipes the hard drive completely.

You do however retain and data saved online such as COD stats etc and playstation store purchases with your PSN.

Hope this helps??
