This issue seems to be related to the low quality motherboard that Acer used. There are a lot of issues reported with this laptop, from rebooting at random, to not installing windows, to freezing and to simply not booting.

Assuming that the laptop is not suffering from overheating through clogged heatsink and vents and that the Power supply is throwing the correct voltage out (try removing the battery and using it on AC alone while you re-install, this will eliminate the battery as a culprit), the problem would appear to lie with the motherboard. You have checked the obvious with HDD and RAM.

Issue could be down to a number of mobo components, but rebooting suggests a power regulator item on the board which is failing.

Just out of curiosity, try installing a more stable OS like XP and if you can boot the installer from an EXTERNAL USB Cd Rom drive, it might be worth seeing if that works before condemning the mobo

Can't load the OS

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Acer 6920 missing 2 registry files and can't auto repair or start. Hard drive has only 25 gig space left. Are there some files I can download to repair without wiping the hard drive and starting o

If you have the Vista disk, insert it into the CD Rom player. When it starts it will ask you if you want to repair or install a fresh copy. If you choose repair, it will fix any missing registry files

How do i carry out a master reset to our acer 6920 laptop loaded with windows vista ps i dont have any master cd it came preloaded from pc world

Read the documentation that came with the system, or goto the Acer website to find out how to start the recovery program when you boot the system. On my Acer I have to enter the bios setup & goto the the recovery selection, choose that, & reboot.

Almost all systems today do not come with physical media {cds/dvds}. They have a section of the hard drive set aside for recovery to how the system was "right out of the box".

I had same problem with my aspire 6920.Tried power reset didn't work. Tried replacing memory chips,No go . Pulled rest of my hair out, still nothing . Then I checked memory chips again and noticed that the inner chip was not seating correctly due to a design flaw in the retainers. Gave both retainers a gental tweak, reset chips. And most importantly Disconnected CMOS Battery and held power button in for 1 min. Plugged everything back in and Bingo... Acer 3100 keeps wanting to reboot

Sounds like you have a BIOS problem. You can't update/reload it; for that, you need Windows. Try restoring defaults.

Crystal eye webcam for acer aspire 6920G says camera not found

hey, I had the same problem, I've got an Acer Aspire 6920 and I swapped out Vista that was on it for Windows XP

I went to the link you posted but it just goes to acer.com
so I figured I'd try something

if you go to acer aspire 6920 drivers, you can only pick Vista and Windows 7, and not Windows XP

instead, pick 6530 drivers (older acer) and pick the Bison driver:
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Camera/CCD_Suyin_2.0.8.3.zip?acerid=633639858186446758&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%206530&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_7

Install it (with or without installing the previous Crystal eye, doesn't matter, and it will work properly

Acer 6920

The 'glue' electronics is pretty simple and reliable in these.
Try deleting it via the Control Panel, System, Hardware, then Device Manager; it should appear under the 'Disk Drives' section but make sure you don't delete your hard drive(!)
Once it has been removed, reboot your system. This should force Windows to reinstall the driver for the card drive.
If it doesn't, then the hardware has failed after all.
