If you have a computer, and it's on all the time, connect a usb cable to it and leave it plugged in for a few hours in the OFF position. It should charge right up.

I left my Garmin 765t GPS in the car over a very cold night and since then the unit doesn't recharge. Please help Thank you Bill

While the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries inside the GPS can operate in a fairly wide temperature range, leaving the battery out in anything less than -10 weather will render the battery inoperable. Unfortunately your battery has probably been exposed to a lower temperature, and therefore will no longer take a charge. You will have to replace the battery. Depending on the retail source that you bought it from you should be able to purchase a replacement unit from them. On a side note, lithium batteries normally have a 3 year lifespan, and you would have to replace after that time-frame.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue. Should you need further information or assistance please do not hesitate to let us know.

My Garmin Nuvi 250 is not working. I can not TURN IT ON.... My son used it without charger and exhausted the battery. Tried to recharge using the adaptor but is not responding....

It is possible the battery was damaged. However it may be fine but just needs to be charged for a few hours (or over night) before it has enough of a charge to be able to power the unit. I've had this happen and even on the power adapter it will not run but give it a few hours on the charger and away it goes.

If the battery is totally flat and a recharge see no change then you can try a reset ( I believe there is a reset hole on the back of the 255) but don;t do this until you really need to as it may wipe out any saved way points etc.

If the battery will not come back up then it needs to be replaced. At this point try the reset. There is a microcontroller in the battery or the charge board and sometimes resetting will get it to work. If that doesn't work then you need to replace the battery or if you have warranty get it fixed by Garmin. They are great to deal with and you just need to contact them via the support page phone or email works.

You can replace the battery with a 3rd party battery. You need to split the case and disconnect the battery and then plug in the new one and seal it up again. Not hard to do just have to be careful of static. Battery is about $30 from several places. Just do a search for garmin battery and you should find several web pages to choose from.

Now just as a FYI the battery probably was ready to go. With light use it may have lasted a bit longer but just couldn't handle the extended load. That's very typical of any lithium battery powered device ie gps laptops etc. Once you've used them for a while or had them for a year or so you need to keep in mind the battery won't shrug off being drained as easily. On a new battery it isn't good for it but it doesn't kill it, on a older tired battery that might be the last straw. Lithium battery life depends on how many charge cycles, and how heavy the use each cycle. Use it heavy and all the way down each time and you may be lucky to see 6 months out of it.

It is possible there is other damage to the main board inside but that really shouldn't have happened if just the battery went flat. That unfortunately means replacement or repair to the unit not just a new battery. From your description I'd bet on the battery.

Once the unit is charged how long does the battery run dry

Once fully charged, it will last for about 4 hours, if it is used without shutting down. The good thing is that it comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery. That can be recharged once it is weak. I will strongly advice that you do not allow the battery run down completely before recharging as the battery might become weak and unable to hold a charge. So do not let your gps die before recharging. you can charge once it is low.

Coleman rechargable lantern Model 5327A750. Have not used it in a while have left it on charge for over 24 hours. the night light works but the main light does not go on. Replaced the bulb and still...

just read the charging instructions. Charge for 16-18 hours. If stored for more than 6 months recharge for the full 16 hours. Do not leave the lantern on after the battery has stopped, has overdischarging the battery can cause problems in recharging to a full charge. If this does happen, switch lantern to off and recharge for 40 hours.YES 40 hours. Only the LED is the only light to be used while charging. If you hane the other light on hi or low the battery does not charge.

Hope this helps

Seems like your phone ran totally ran out of battery, that is not a big deal you just need to recharge it for a longer time then usually you do. Hope that will solve your problem.

Thank you!

Will not power on

Disconnect the GPS from the car's cigar lighter jack and connect via USB cable directly to your computer's USB port (or use your GPS's AC adapter if included) and allow to charge for 8 hours (or over night).

The over night charge should "refresh" the GPS's battery. You should be able to switch the GPS back on to run off its internal battery at this point. Leaving the GPS constantly connected to the car's power can cause the problem you describe to happen. If it happens again, simply repeat the process.

Good luck!

Cannot recharge battery on my explorist 400 gps

I had the same problem with mine, the AC adapter fails really quickly. Try to go to Radio Shack and get the 3-12v switch able AC adapter that is 1 amp, and select the 4.5 volt setting. This setting is a whole .5 volts less than the one that comes with GPS, but its the Amps that matters. Make sure you get the correct plug with the adapter, I got the "B" plug and follow the directions that came with the adapter to match the right polarity, or you will fry your GPS. Also, the computer just supplies enough power to run the GPS, but not to charge it as long as you have the USB 2.0 ports.

Battery life cut down to 7 hours

The thing is, you recharge it too much. Because when you recharge it even though it still has battery power left, it tries to recharge it as much as if the battery was depleted. So, your battery overheats, therefore allowing you 7 hours instead of 20. And yes, it is possible to switch the battery.
